A warning to new investors and some very important advice.

PLEASE be incredibly wary of the massive influx of Youtube Crypto Gurus who are selling you their "TA"/analysis, often with manufactured and over excited speech. Many of you have just started out investing in Cryptocurrency. Congratulations! You are a relatively new adopter. Naturally you are seeking guidance about investment strageies; for example, "Which coins should I invest in?" "When is the best time to buy?" "Which technical charts should I look at if I want to Day Trade" Stop. Right There. Investing in crypto is an incredibly simple process. Buy Bitcoin. (Dollar Cost Average) Hodl it for as long as you can. When there is a dip. Buy more. That's it. Technical analysis ONLY benefits the people who are selling it to YOU. You cannot predict this market with exotic sounding extensions. Read more about why TA doesn't work in Crypto, if you want to learn more. The sharks and manipulators will encourage

idk about you guys, but I grew up in the ghetto. Knowing those I cared about & grew up around were destined to work until their dying day or end up in jail out of financial desperation causing them to steal or run a nefarious business kept me from ever being able to keep my mouth shut about Bitcoin

and cryptocurrencies in general. Instead, I spent the last 10 years telling and gifting Bitcoin to all those I cared about most. That one drug dealer-like trick has gotten everyone I cared about most on board in the last 10 years. So for those who are telling those they care about Bitcoin for the same reasons, I say speak on, gift on; otherwise, those at the bottom we were born with will stay at the bottom if we don't give them a little push. For anyone asking how you can gift Satoshis to someone without a wallet, well for me I usually tell them to check their email for a Bitcoin gift I sent them. On Coinbase you can send it to someone's email. The owner of the email will receive an email letting them know they have some Bitcoin waiting for them. Once they open an account, whatever you sent them will be propagated on it. If you know of any other options like this, please let me know in the comments and I'll edit them in. This is what bitcoin would look like distributed in the same way global wealth is distributed today.

Currently global wealth distribution looks like this: Top 1% holds 41% of all wealth Next 8% holds 42% of all wealth Next 23% holds 14% of all wealth Bottom 68% holds 3% of all wealth If bitcoin were to be distributed in the same way this is how much btc each of those groups would own (assuming a population of 8 billion people). Top 1% would own 8,610,000 btc (0.1076 btc per person) Next 8% would own 8,820,000 btc (0.0137 btc per person) Next 23% would own 2,940,000 btc (0.0015 btc per person) Bottom 68% would own 630,000 btc (0.0001 btc per person) Owning 0.1 btc ($5,500 today) would put you in the top 1% of the global population should bitcoin become used as a global reserve currency. Hope Bitcoin hits 1M but I have to unsubscribe. This place is an unhealthy echo chamber of delusion and speculation with little focus on the actual technology.

I’ve been in bitcoin since late 2017 and it even sparked enough curiosity to send me back to school for cpu engineering, however as of late I’ve noticed more and more bullish sentiment (which I love) however it seems to be diluted unfortunately due to the sheer number of absolute shills who seem to have little to no understanding of blockchain tech or the ecosystem. Yes it’s dangerous for companies to put large portions of their cash on their balance sheets into highly volatile assets. This isn’t rocket science people, also isn’t a damnation of bitcoin in itself. Yet after pointing out that simple fact I’ve received several nasty anon dm’s....from one little comment. People are so clueless about bitcoin and crypto.. we're still so early!

People are so clueless about bitcoin it's mindboggling for those who have been in it and around it for years and years.. it makes you realise we're still so early.. Tesla bought 70k bitcoins, Michael Saylor bought 90k bitcoins, so many other big and small companies and high net worth individuals bought it and speak good things about it, Jack Dorsey and Square are building around it and believing in it, ETFs are about to be approved all over the place, big traditional investors are coming in, heck there are several politicians in the US that believe in bitcoins future.. there are so many exciting new developments, new platforms, new technologies, new services that are constantly being built.. But nothing of all this matters. Outsiders will stay outsiders. They just don't care, their prejudice is too strong. We know it because we all were there at some point, thinking it's a scam, that it will be outlawed, that it won't work etc. But get ready folks because (in my

Japanese game developer Nexon bought $100 million worth of bitcoins

Japanese game developer, public company Nexon bought 1,717 bitcoins for about $100 million at an average exchange rate of about $58,200. President and CEO Owen Mahoney explained that the investment represented less than 2% of Nexon's total funds. "In the current economic climate, bitcoin offers long-term stability and liquidity while preserving the value of our funds for future investments," Mahoney said. Bitcoin is likely to retain its value, he said, even if it is not yet widespread. Nexon was founded in 1994. It develops online games. Nexon went public on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in December 2011. The company currently operates more than 50 online games in more than 190 countries. Earlier, the Hong Kong technology company Meitu, which produces smartphones and develops software, brought its investments in cryptocurrency to $100 million. At the same time, Elon Musk's Tesla announced that it sold $272 million worth of bitcoins at the end of March, with a profit

Thomas Jefferson quote on Bitcoin

"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered.... I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies.... The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs." - Thomas Jefferson Satoshi Nakamoto took the power from the banks restored it to the people, to whom it properly belongs. Hacking challenge with a 1.7M satoshi reward

I'm working to develop an algorithmic code methodology which will be "easy" to code and arbitrarily difficult to hack. My ultimate goal is to provide a framework to create smart contracts without a need for anything like the Ethereum blockchain. In order to test this I provide hacking challenges with BTC private keys embedded in hackable lock boxes. My latest challenge is labeled 4.0 and you can find all the details here: https://algomachines.com/ ---------- Update ----------- Ethereum provides a hack proof way to run algorithms at great cost. The algos running on the Ethereum blockchain are hack proof because they are independently verified by nodes on the network. It is thought to be impossible to create actual hack proof code. That's why you need something like Ethereum. However, I have a software methodology whereby it becomes VERY hard to run algorithm code in the WRONG way. That's the nature of hacking an algorithm. My Wife And I Have Become Bitcoin Laughstocks 😆 ❌

Recently, my wife and I bought a chunk of Bitcoin after years of discussing it between ourselves. The other night we were in the HouseParty app with 3 other couples. Of those 6 people, 4 are firmly entrenched in the legacy banking system. While we haven’t disclosed the amount we actually put into Bitcoin, we did acknowledge to them we decided to buy. Big mistake. For the next hour we were subject to constant jokes. Wherever there was a jab to be made, it was quickly converted to a Bitcoin joke and directed our way. All 6 of them relished greatly in it. We are good sports and laughed along. At one point, I began to genuinely laugh with them. Not because the truth of their jokes were funny, but rather I was laughing at them as they laughed at us. Why? Because Bitcoin is real. They can laugh all they want. What’s more hilarious is how clueless they really are. I hope you’ll join me in laughing at those who laugh at us. Let the haters hate and HODL on. I don’t normally talk like t

Taproot and Schnorr: The Biggest BTC Upgrade for 2021

While crypto prices are skyrocketing (yet again), the very important technology behind crypto asset #1 gets unnoticed. We screened the news for experts’ take on a technical upgrade of Bitcoin. Starting August 23, 2017, Bitcoin allowed the process of splitting transactions into blocks by separating signatures. This format is called SegWit (or Segregated Witness) – a soft fork designed to avoid accidental transactions and make the network run faster.  Since the digital signature accounts for 65 percent of a transaction, removing it from the data increased the maximum size of the Bitcoin block from 1MB to almost 4MB. It allowed transactions to reduce the size and fit more of them into a single Bitcoin block. The BTC network gained additional scalability and made transactions faster. Taproot is the most significant BTC update since the SegWit soft fork of 2017. It is intended to increase Bitcoin's fungibility, improve the functionality of smart contracts, and boost privacy by maki

You told me so (update): BlockFi lowers rates and issues new restrictions with less than a week of notice. 3 Factor withdrawal is flagged, demands live biometric data and delay for manual review.

On 04.25.21 BlockFi issued an email to their clients informing of additional rate drops and new restrictions. For example: 1 BTC was yielding 6% and as of May 1st (with less than a week of notice) BlockFi will reduce that to roughly 3.5%. Classic bait and switch. In response I’ve moved to withdraw half of my BTC from BlockFi. After processing my 3 factor withdrawal, BlockFi has flagged my deposit and demanded that I provide live biometrics for them to review. They’ll contact me in a few days about the biometrics and about THEIR DECISION to let me withdraw. In conclusion, HODLers “told me so” and if you’re currently using BlockFi take notice. While I’m confident that I’ll part ways with BlockFi in possession of all my funds, I’ll also do so knowing the presence of red flags that most often associate to bad liquidity. I wouldn’t be surprised if BlockFi is delaying in order to gather liquidity. Feel free to drop your “I told you so” below. Life lessons. Submitted April 28, 2021 at

Tesla Selling Bitcoin is Actually Bullish AF

A ton of people in the chat were losing their minds yesterday and the whole chat went from talk of hard, immutable, decentralized, trustless, non inflatable, peer to peer money to "oh mr rich billionaire please buy back your bitcoin" as if we need the elite to buy bitcoin in order for bitcoin to be successful. When in reality the elites just saw why they need to buy bitcoin in order for their own businesses to be successful. So in this post I'm telling you guys why Tesla selling their bitcoin actually just made a bunch of CEOs and high net worth individuals realize that they need bitcoin and why this is actually really bullish. So Tesla sold 10% of their bitcoin and this is actually a good thing because the reason they bought it in the first place was to be a store of value as opposed to the usual parking place for corporations money which is treasury and corporate bonds. This is one of the first steps of many on the road to bitcoin disrupting bonds. We're talking a

This is why I won't sell any of my BTC in this bull market

I do not need fiat right now, actually I am buying a house but the interest rates are so low (0.39%) that I would be crazy not to take out a loan. Other option is to sell high and then buy back at lower price. But then I have to perfectly time the top and again buy the bottom. I have to be right 2 times which I believe is not possible. In addition I have to pay 39% tax on capital gains so i have to wait at least for 40% dip to have the same amount of BTC as I started with. And who knows how low will it go in this cycle. The last reason is that I believe this is my once in a lifetime opportunity to FIRE. Edit: To explain the second point a little bit as there is a lot of missunderstanding. If I sell now, almost the entire price is my gain. I have to pay 39% tax in Slovakia (this is true even if it is unbelievable for someone). My goal is to have more BTC, not more fiat so BTC have to drop more than 40% to make this trade profitable for me. I am not a trader so I do not believe I c

This was the first any only time the bitcoin core has been hacked (please tell me if I'm wrong about that). And it was spectacular. At 6:08 pm that day, Jeff Garzik (on the bitcoin core dev team) reported that "The "value out" in this block #74638 is quite strange: 92,233,720,368.54 BTC?" An attacker had taken advantage of an unforeseen check transaction overflow error. 2.5 hours later Gavin Andresen had a patch to fix it. 30 minutes after that Satoshi posted the patch the devs ended up using. But how do they implement this major change in the code (which includes instructions to ignore all existing blocks after #74637) without hard forking to a shorter version of the block chain? Satoshi asked everyone to stop generating blocks, but it was pointed out that the community was just too big and distributed by this time to expect quick voluntary action on anything. Satoshi then gave step by step instructions on how to create a new blockchain by applying the patch

Bitcoin helped me set my two sons up

I began investing in Bitcoin in September 2019. When COVID-19 had its impact on the market in March 2020, i went against my emotions, which were telling me that I had been foolish to invest as my investment had halved within hours, and instead followed my head, which told me of course that it was a buying opportunity unlike any that I'd possibly ever see again. Last week the contract settled on a duplex for my 2 sons, 17 and 18, to own and live in a their first property investment. I am supporting 1/3 of their mortgage repayments for the first 2 years as they are both apprentice tradesmen. I'm not wealthy and have had plenty of bad luck along the way but Bitcoin made it possible for me to help start my sons from a far more favourable economic position than i was able to Submitted April 28, 2021 at 01:16AM by Old__Mate https://ift.tt/2S4sIo5

The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) has announced that banks and licensed currency exchangers can use cryptocurrency mined by licensed crypto miners in Iran to pay for imports, the Financial Tribune reported on Saturday. In October last year, the Iranian government amended its cryptocurrency regulation to enable the country’s central bank to fund imports with bitcoin legally mined in the country. Licensed crypto miners are required to sell their coins directly to the central bank. The measure was proposed by the CBI and the Ministry of Energy. Iran has issued over 1,000 licenses to crypto miners, including one to the Turkish bitcoin mining giant Iminer. Power plants in Iran are allowed to mine cryptocurrencies and bitcoin miners have been granted exclusive access to electricity generated from three of them. In January, Iran shut down 1,620 illegal crypto mining farms. https://news.bitcoin.com/irans-banks-currency-exchangers-use-cryptocurrencies-pay-for-imports/ Submitted April 27, 2

Why controlling your own keys is important(political risk)

I see this come up again and again. Not your keys, not your bitcoin. And then a explanation, usually about how they could steal your coins from a custodial wallet or exchange(theft). How the coins maybe don’t even exist(fraud) or how you are not in control of them. I feel like these arguments are not convincing everyone. Big exchanges like Coinbase have a excellent track record of not loosing or stealing coins. Btc on robinhood might just be a entry in a database, but so are stocks these days. Every reasonable custodian will follow every lawful order of yours to the letter etc. The issue in my POV nowadays is political. Above I mentioned how every reasonable custodian will follow every lawful order of yours to the letter, but that’s just half the story. They will follow every lawful order, not just yours. And who decides what’s lawful? Politicians. This can have tax implications(transaction tax). Or regulatory implications(only allowing transfers to kyc aml known wallets). The m

My fiance bought $30,000 worth of bitcoin over the weekend behind my back.

And I couldn't be happier. I was talking to her late on Friday night when bitcoin was around 49k, saying I wish I had some more extra cash because right now is the time to buy more. A very bullish note from a Tesla executive on Bitcoin during today's Tesla earnings call

To paraphrase, this is what he said: "We were looking for a place to store cash trying to get good returns while also trying to preserve liquidity. The traditional options we looked into had low yields and involved taking some risks or sacrifice liquidity. Whereas with Bitcoin, we are pleased with the liquidity in the market and it was a good decision to buy Bitcoins. We are optimistic about Bitcoin for many reasons and it is out intent to hold our current Bitcoin position and continue to accumulate Bitcoins from customer transactions as they purchase vehicles." Elon Musk should put a full bitcoin node on the moon

Elon Musk should put a full bitcoin node on the moon as the first step to show the world that he can build a secure data center on space (the moon), and Bitcoin network is super resilient than any other network. The latency between moon and earth is only 1.3 seconds, which is manageable. Some reasons why this would be the coolest "to the moon" project for SpaceX: Low maintenance: Bitcoin is designed in such a way that the same basic hardware can run the full-node for a very very long time. No worry about hardware obsoletion. Bitcoin node requires very little energy and emits very little heat. Lightweight: The whole Bitcoin node system + solar battery + antenna can be less than a few kilograms. This cool project would be not too costly for him. Reliability: The moon visible part is always facing down to earth, to his Starlink satellites. Put SpaceX, Starlink, and Bitcoin logo on the machine. How cool is that as an advertisement? Next step is a small mining rigs on the

For someone trading bitcoin on a 24 inch monitor in 2010, bitcoin has actually gone to the moon.

Bitcoin exchange trading first went live on Bitcoinmarket in March 2010 at a price of $0.003. Someone looking at a 1 minute chart might have it zoomed in so that a 2% move is encompassed in their chart. A huge 2% move of $0.00006 fill theirs screen, and their 24 inch 4:3 screen screen is about 18 inches (1.5 feet) all. Oh no. I cant believe I missed the move from $0.003 to $0.00306. Should I fomo in? Where will it go next? It is now April 2021 at a price of $53,500. The $0.00006 move has been repeated (53500/0.00006=) 891,666,667 times, and if each move is 1.5 feet for the monitor height, it has now moved 1,337,500,000 feet. The moon is 238,825 miles, or 1,261,000,000 feet away from the Earth. Laughed at for buying my Niece bitcoin for her first birthday...Last summer.

So I was trying to decide what to get my niece for her first birthday last July. I figured she's probably gonna get loads of crappy toys that she will quickly grow out of . I had just started buying BTC earlier that year so I thought I will get her some, I only bought £50.00 worth for her when it was worth $8000ish dollars. When my brother and his wife the parents of my niece opened the card to a message that said " You now own 0.0066 Bitcoin" they seemed a bit confused, my brother in law then laughed out loud and said' Who buys a baby Bitcoin'. I have to admit I felt pretty bad... It's now worth almost £300.00 and counting. I said she can withdraw when she's 18. Submitted April 25, 2021 at 09:39PM by samuth https://ift.tt/2QUtGmu

Why Bitcoin is so hard for traditional economists and investors to understand.

I have been working in finance for the last 15 years, with a background in applied economics and I didn’t have my Bitcoin epiphany until last year. When I first heard about Bitcoin, I dismissed it immediately with the same tired Dutch tulip bubble critique. As you are well aware, this is literally always the go to example used by detractors. On the surface, it’s not that hard to understand why this is their initial reaction. Think of all the barriers that one has to cross: what exactly is the technology behind it, what if it gets hacked, price volatility, government bans, use case, bad actors (Mt. Gox), environmental impact, and other various FUD. Then once you get past that - you have to learn about exchanges, wallets, private keys, self custody, mining process, halving, hard forks, hash rate, etc. Honestly, it takes an exhausting amount of learning to even come to an informed decision on Bitcoin. But in my experience, when someone takes the time to peel back all these layers, they

real inflation rates

In 2010, there was a pretty famous study about 75k being the inflection point for a diminishing return on reported levels of happiness. This year, a much deeper data study debunked that. The inflation adjusted income of 80k did not correlate with the "sweet spot" of happiness. I'm writing an article for an REIT, so I took a look at homeownership as a control. in 2010, the average cost of a home was 279k. At 75k income, that's about 3.7x your annual income. In 2021 at 80k ("inflation adjusted"), the average cost of a new home is 409k....5.1x your annual salary. that means someone making 80k in 2021 is about 35% poorer than someone making 75k just 10 years ago. I'm posting this to point out what. crock of shit inflation rates are. They are fucking out of control. The 80k was determined off of federally reported inflation rates between 2010-2021. In just ten years time, if someone got the "inflation raise" consistently, they would be 8 years

Oh no!!! The price of BTC is dropping because of this and that. Who cares? I sure don't, because I am betting on the potential of Bitcoin as a medium of exhange in the long term.

I love how people don't get that many are super long on Bitcoin because they understand it will be how money is commonly exchanged in the future. It's not just speculative. There is no central authority and no one single company pushing it, so yes, the development of payment networks, apps, infrastructure, and so forth is taking a while. Look at innovations like SegWit and the Lightning Network. These are only the beginning. The improvement of renewable energy should help with mining as well. As Mark Cuban put it, Bitcoin will reach the masses when it's so easy your gma could use it. Well, it's taking time, but the technology that will be behind bringing Bitcoin to the masses will be no more complicated than the technology behind paying with a debit card at the grocery store. You just don't think about it because they have boiled a system that reads a chip and then instantly transfers funds from your institution to another across hundreds or thousands of miles dow

Bitcoin is about TRUST. We don’t just HODL for the gains (which are juicy). We HODL to protect the integrity of the network during times of attack. We HODL because we know what legacy finance has done to the world.

We HODL for the common man and his unborn children who are sold out by inflation and government handouts to elite. We HODL to show the world a new way to manage trust, after so many failures in the hands of individuals. I’m HODLing because BTC has been and will continue to be one of the defining gifts that I’m able to help give in my life, a battle that I have to fight with everything I have. There are too many things to do in the real world. It was like a drug, an obsession with money and value. But today is different. I literally don’t care about the price. The apathy has sunk in. I am numb. I will always hodl. Hodlers aren’t lucky, they’ve worked hard for it.

There are lots of people who have become extremely wealthy by acquiring coins from years ago. These same people often get called “lucky”. To some extent, that’s true as they may have simply stumbled across bitcoin before many others - but to a larger extent, it’s plain unfair. Those “lucky” hodlers, have gone through several cycles. They’ve seen their fiat networths go sky high, and then drop off a cliff. If you’re a wise hodler, it involves constant research. If you got in a few cycles ago, say 2013, then bitcoin was a completely different beast then. There were no guarantees. The theory and technology was still very robust, but the proliferation of bitcoin wasn’t there yet. Buying bitcoin wasn't as easy as entering your credit card details. If you bought bitcoin on April 1st 2013, you’d have got a coin for ~$100. You would've likely had to send some money to an Estonian bank account, and pray to all that's holy that in a week or so's time that money would arrive.

Down 8.4% in 24 hours, 18.6% in a week, 12% in a month... and up 283% in 6 months

Think about who is buying that coin when you sell it. People who know the price is going to go right back up. Hold your coins, don’t sell. This is not financial advice. Submitted April 23, 2021 at 02:03AM by lastthad https://ift.tt/3xi0eaF

DCA Day April 30th 12pm EST

Let’s promote the bull run. I propose we have a DCA day once a month together, where everyone market buys at least $100 together to get the price higher and try to create new support levels. Not sure if it would make a difference but willing to try. I propose the first day be April 30th 12pm EST . Anyone else in? Submitted April 23, 2021 at 12:59AM by jumbawotumba https://ift.tt/32C3i3l

Remember less than a week ago when we hit near $64k and everyone was Ecstatic?

Yeah, that was less than a week ago. Everyone needs to chill. Good things take time. Panic selling is the quickest way to lose all your money. Hold, accumulate and be patient. NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE, just my opinion. Let bitcoin build a base floor and consolidate, it will only give it more power when taking off next spike up. Every market has good and bad weeks, it does not mean it won’t reach a new all-time high tomorrow, next week or next month. For all the newbs out there, if you can’t handle seeing your portfolio drop 50% to 80% in hours, you should rethink your investments before you lose all your hair. This is what crypto does, and it goes both ways. I’ve been through multiple cycles and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that every time there’s a nice decline in price, the media/ retail investors think the world is coming to an end, only to contradict themselves the second it goes back up. Market manipulation is a real thing. Not everything you hear or read in articles i

Don't let this place become Wall Street Bets!

Over the last few days, as Bitcoin has dropped in price, I have seen more and more tin foil hat posts blaming JP morgan, banks / whoever for why the price has dropped. The truth is we simply don't know and have no proof. I see that Lad Bible video being posted endlessly, they have absolutely fuck all to do with JP Morgan. Could it be that many people are asking genuine questions about the sustainability around things like power requirements /wastage, threats to governments, and China's influence? (Yes is the answer). No matter what you feel about these subject areas let's not lower ourselves to how the WSB forum acts, where they post endlessly about fighting the man and stirring up silly paranoia and ridiculous behaviour. If you believe in Bitcoin, hodl it, if you don't and are afraid, sell it... it's that simple! Submitted April 22, 2021 at 03:17PM by UnusualPass https://ift.tt/3sKO9aq

Why Bitcoin will not be made illegal like gold in the 1930s

The first, and most important, thing to consider with this is why gold was made illegal. You may think it was because the government wanted to ban an alternative to their new federal reserve notes, however, this isn't the case. During the roaring 20s, America was importing and exporting a large number of goods. The creation of the federal reserve note in 1913, meant that the government could pay its suppliers or any country it does business with these new notes. This made it easier to do business because there was no work in shipping the physical gold for payment. As such, the gold stayed in America but the notes were still redeemable for gold upon request of the holder. As countries continued to increase business with America they began to see themselves holding an increasing number of these new notes. Once the great depression started to take effect, countries wanted security and as a result, they wanted to cash in their notes and request their equivalent in gold. The proble

If a government like Turkey dictates what median of exchange of value you're only allowed to use.. it's time to change your government, not your currency.

The human race has exchanged many forms of his and services throughout the ages and Bitcoin is just another harmless example. If a country stops or restricts you from exchanging digital units of cryptographically data for goods or services.. this should be viewed as an infringement of the very liberty and freedom that make us human. A common misunderstanding about why keeping your coins on an exchange is dangerous...

It feels to me that a huge number of people dismiss the risk of keeping your coins on an exchange because they are looking primarily at the risk of being hacked - that is, the risk is that if the exchange is hacked (as with MTGox) you’ll lose your coins without recourse. Compared to the risk of being hacked as an individual holding their own keys, this risk doesn’t seem particularly high (and I would agree that the risk of a typical individual losing their coins that way is higher than the risk of a reputable exchange being catastrophically hacked). BUT, the real risk of exchanges that most people will face, and which IS a relatively real and common risk, is that exchanges have the power to lock you out of your own account; withhold withdrawal of your coins; change and manipulate fee structures in exorbitant ways; institute arbitrary / unfulfillable KYC requirements; and so on. Obviously many folks already understand this, but for those of you considering leaving your coins perpetual

I feel I need to appologize

7 years ago, I posted a reply to a comment about bitcoin in this thread: Right Here , a user tipped me 25cents (USD) in BTC as a result of my comment. I went through the effort to collect the BTC and put it in a wallet and promptly forgot all about it. Today I was talking to my brother about BTC and remembered that interaction and went on a little quest to find my forgotten fraction of a BTC. After some digging in my email, I found my wallet stored on Blockchain.com and my .25c is now worth $96! So I appologize for my comments back then calling bitcoin black magic and comparing it to a pyramid scheme. I have many regrets over this. Had I been smart enough to invest just $500 at that time, I'd have over $190,000 today - that's an incredible return in just 8 years. So anyway, that's all I came here to say. Carry on. Oh, for some reason the person who tipped me the .25c is suspended so I can't thank them directly. /u/_________lol________ if you're out there - Thanks

Bitcoin Mining is NOT Solving Complex Math Problems [Beginner's Guide]

A common misunderstanding about Bitcoin mining is that it involves solving complex math problems. Actually, what miners do isn't that complex at all. And that's a good thing. Let's explain 👇 Summary: Mining is analogous to an open dice game; winners are determined every 10 minutes Difficulty adjusts to keep Bitcoin issuance consistent making it’s supply schedule fixed ASICs are superior to supercomputers braiins.com/blog Full article: https://braiins.com/blog/bitcoin-mining-analogy-beginners-guide Dice game analogy: If miners were solving complex math problems as many people think, supercomputers and quantum computers would pose a serious threat to the Bitcoin network. In reality, mining is more like a dice game than a math exercise. Imagine you have a 1000-sided dice, and to win a game you just need to roll a number lower than 50. The more rolls you have, the higher your probability of winning. The amount of rolls is equivalent to "hashrate" for b

Sold Porsche for more BTC

Hi guys- Just a little story to share here. I've been a major car guy my whole like really. LOVE German sports cars. I've had a Porsche in the garage since about 2012 or so. Five different ones total. So I've recently become a BTC convert. I've bought in pretty heavy after reading everything I can get my hands on about Bitcoin. Not to mention the hundreds of videos. So a couple of months into this I start looking at the Porsche completely differently. Instead of this shiny silver beauty sitting in the garage, it's now looking like a huge waste of money. A depreciating waste at that. This particular car I'd waited for for years. It was my "perfect" car. I bought it just last fall. So here I am in the spring of 2021 with what amounts to a melting pile of money in the garage. Luckily, this particular car is rare and sought after. I was able to sell it to my local dealer for just $1K under what I paid for it. Pretty minor loss in the car game. With that

People keep assuming they've missed the Bitcoin boat.. so inadvertently they keep missing the boat!

If you think you've "missed out" on Bitcoin or are too late to the party you haven't/ aren't. Over the years the perception from no-coiners has always been.. how lucky those in crypto have been and that they've some how missed the boat. The crazy thing is that many of those people could have got in at as low as around $5k just over a year ago. I've been a firm believer that one day in our lifetimes 1 BTC = $1 million Today's price of $56k is therefore cheap! The boat is still very much still in the docks taking on passengers :D These are some of the metrics I always keep in mind... Bitcoin is only 12 years old, there's still almost 120 years to go until the last Bitcoin is mined. A UN population division projected the worlds Global population to have nearly doubled to 11 billion in 2100, from 6 billion in 2000. By 2140, only 21m will have been mined of which many will have been lost. In 2019, there were an estimated 46.8 million people w

I have another one for you guys, I coded a Binance trading algorithm that analyses the news sentiment from the top 100 crypto feeds and makes buying decisions, and of course - it's open source

I had a lot of fun building this algo, and I'm quite happy with how it turned out! It's probably my most complex trading algorithm yet, and I'm happy to share it with this community because you reacted so nicely to my other projects! Here's quick overview of what the bot does: Pulls and analyzes the last headline from the top 100 crypto news sites Provide an overview on the most mentioned coin across all the headlines Analyse the sentiment of each headline and categorises the output by coin Places a Buy order if the compound sentiment is positive and the a coin is mentioned in multiple headlines It works with any cryptocurrency available on Binance Here are some considerations that I am planning address in the future: I accidentally used Feedspospot's top 100 Bitcoin feeds, so the sources are a bit biased right now During my testing the compound sentiment wasn't high enough and wouldn't place a lot of trades It can probably make use of multipro
