We must push for SegWit adoption

Long time lurker, but feel that this is important.

SegWit adoption is stagnating to say the least, actually dropping since last month (http://ift.tt/2vAlqs8). If we want Bitcoin to be useful, and newbies not to be put off, we must make a conscious effort to bring down the fees. It's just not good enough to say BTC is only a store of value - SegWit was developed amongst other reasons so that it would be adopted and improve scalability.

Similarly to how we used to raise awareness of Bitcoin with various merchants by encouraging them to accept it as form of payment, we must start pushing for SegWit adoption by calling out the biggest culprits that haven't adopted it yet - and praising the ones that do, such as ShapeShift.

Let's compile a list of wallets, exchanges, and mining pools that haven't implemented SegWit on their wallets as of yet, and pester them to give us an ETA on when this will be implemented. If we start making noise on this, things are likely to change quicker than sitting back and meme'ing each other to death with endless boring price, moon and lambo posts.

I will keep track of comments and edit this post with a list of companies - so far Coinbase is the biggest culprit, but I believe most of the NYA signatories are also lagging behind.

No SegWit as of yet -- let's get an ETA!

  • Coinbase
  • Binance
  • Bittrex
  • Localbitcoins
  • Coinfloor

Wallets

  • KeepKey
  • blockchain.info
  • Breadwallet
  • Mycelium
  • Coinomi

SegWit-enabled providers -- cool dudes

  • ShapeShift

Wallets

  • Samourai Wallet
  • Greenaddress
  • Electrum
  • Trezor
  • Ledger

EDIT: the idea here is to make the companies involved aware of how important it is to get this rolling ASAP (some, like Coinbase, are all too happy prioritising BCH support instead) and to stop any sort of ambiguity in how long it'll take to get this implemented. We all stand to benefit with increased adoption, including them, so what we can do now to improve our ecosystem is to make our voices heard, whether here, on Twitter, or direct emails to their support, or even CEOs.
