What I love most about bitcoin is how the bad guys just can't take it over.

As long as there is a community fighting for integrity, scarcity, censorship-resistance, fungibility, decentralization, open source, great engineering, privacy and immutability, bitcoin cannot be stopped.

By sticking to bitcoin's principles, which it is brilliantly designed to preserve, the community shrugs off any and every attack that has been devised to destroy or to take over bitcoin.

What I hope newcomers will see with a little patience (or through a little study of the history of bitcoin) is that even the most powerful threats have all melted away in time.

Here's what we survived in the last year as a short list:

Big Corporate Miners refusing to activate segwit because it would reduce transaction fees capitulated when the community launched a User Activated Soft Fork;

Big Bitcoin Companies tried to take over the core reference client and hard fork bitcoin but totally capitulated when the community refused to "upgrade" to their shitty new software that didn't have the engineers we wanted involved.

A hard fork that pretended to be bitcoin and was very aggressively and fraudulently marketed as "the true bitcoin" failed to persuade anybody but the most naive users of its value.

Thousands of altcoins and ICOs with no better technology or even a working product were launched and marketed as the replacement for bitcoin, and they will face their moments of truth soon enough.

We did launch SegWit.

Lightning Network is alive now. It's small, but growing and it's incredible. Like bitcoin itself, it actually can't be stopped now! That's because it was built with the same principles of bitcoin.

What an incredible place to be at this time!
