I bought my first pieces of bitcoin on July 25th, 2017 @2,300 EUR. Thank you reddit !

Hi guys,

First post here, I just wanted to share my experience.

It's been one year since I got into bitcoin. Last year, I spent the whole summer reading and learning about bitcoin and blockchain. I was trapped into this new world. My background is in economics and finance (I'm currently doing a PhD in Finance in Paris). But I also happen to be a self-taught programmer (I've been programming since I'm 12). The blockchain is the perfect link between these two topics. I cant believe I have been ignoring this for so long, but I'm into it now, and don't plan to go anywhere else.

This year has been amazing. I haven't stoped learning since then, I completely reshaped my PhD thesis to incorporate some blockchain topics (specifically I'm studying the cost structure of an economy that would use a second layer solution like the Lightning Network, as well as implications on scaling), I have talked to so many people, newbies or family, to explain them why this is important to learn about this, I am currently starting my own blockchain based startup.

I am still surprised how some professors at my university for instance just don't get the blockchain and bitcoin. Everything I know I have learned it by myself online, and for that I'd like to thank the whole bitcoin community.

Thank you reddit for the trolling, the memes of course, but also the invaluable amount of ressources and information you make available to anyone, thank you the bitcoin dev community for the amazing work you're doing, thank you the internet for making all of it possible, thank you so much Andreas for understanding so well the blockchain and spending all your time explaining it so well (great source of inspiration), thank you to all the other bitcoin evangelists, your work is priceless !

I'm so excited about the future, the community is getting larger and larger but we are only getting started folks !! And remember, don't listen to FUD, don't think short term, don't "invest" in bitcoin, but learn what it is and adopt it !
