Satoshi's Vision - Its a construct

Just thought I’d put forward my own opinion about what I believe Satoshi’s Vision is, create some food for thought.

To start with I’d like to make these two rather bold but factual statements:

Satoshi’s Vision is a construct

Satoshi’s Vision does not exist

Now I'll explain. The Bitcoin white-paper is a technical brief or a how-it-works, it does not describe a vision and the word vision is nowhere to be found within the white-paper.

Satoshi did not outline a grand vision, there was no philosophy. His dialogue was mature, practical and to the point.

However we continue to hear about Satoshi's Vision. So where did this nonsense about Satoshi’s Vision come from?

I searched the internet and filtered the results by using the search-by-date function.

I found the term popped up around the time the scaling debate was raging.

What people seemed to be doing and are still doing, is using this term ‘Satoshi’s Vision’ to endear others to their viewpoint about scaling and protocol change. Its was really what they interpreted or thought his vision was.

At the extreme end it is being used as a propaganda tool, to coerce and further divide our community to form two distinct sides, the right and the wrong, naturally Bitcoin developers and users are on the wrong side, according to them.

Disagreements over scaling Bitcoin, Segwit and Lightning are just that, they have nothing to do with Satoshi’s Vision because Satoshi did not describe his vision in the white-paper.

Folks please don’t be fooled by this Satoshi’s Vision nonsense, think for yourselves. Take the time to read Satoshi’s emails and forums posts, you will soon come to understand that Satoshi created the basic protocol and wanted us all to contribute, to debug and write the code.. to improve upon what he created. Its up to us now to mould Bitcoin into what it needs to be to face the future challenges.

Satoshi was a brilliant systems integrator, an architect and a not too shabby C++ programmer. Almost all of the economic, incentive and engineering principles were actually created before Bitcoin. Even the blockchain idea was thought of a decade before Bitcoin. But Satoshi put all of those individual principles into one brilliant package and with the help of ‘us’ together we made it work and it continues to work. Bitcoin is as much ours as it is Satoshi’s, we as a community develop it and if someone doesn’t like it, they can fork Bitcoin and compete on fair terms.

Fair terms means not using propaganda to brainwash the crypto-community, not trying to hijack Bitcoins ticker and name, not being corrupt and fraudulent in their representations and actions. Not using emotive constructs like 'Satoshi's Vision' as a propaganda tool.
