Not updating Ledger a risk to his Bitcoin?

My father has some Bitcoin on a Ledger Nano S that hasn't been firmware updated since 2017. Is there any danger of losing the Bitcoin by not updating the Ledger by now or over the next couple of years?

No, Bitcoin is not controlled by a small group of investors and miners (A rebuttal to the TechSpot article)
