The first mention of Bitcoin on a mainstream TV show happened 9 years ago this month.

It came just three years after bitcoin's creation and aired when the price of one Bitcoin would set you back around $6.90 (the price was already double what they recorded it as).

The TV show that mentioned bitcoin was The Good Wife, and the episode was called 'Bitcoin for Dummies' (yes, the entire episode was dedicated to Bitcoin).

In the episode, Alicia (the protagonist) takes on the case of Dylan Stack (played by Jason Biggs), a lawyer who has refused to reveal the identity of his client who is wanted by the U.S. Treasury Department for creating a new digital currency called Bitcoin.

The episode features a surprisingly good explainer on what Bitcoin is, and how it works. You can watch it here.

I wonder how many people this episode sent down the rabbit hole, leading them to the greatest investment (or regret) of their lives.
