Next time somebody says "Nobody uses Bitcoin for anything aside from speculation", show them this graph

This shows capacity of the lightning network over time. Lightning is a L2 for Bitcoin which makes it cheaper to send transactions, you can send thousands of transactions for a couple satoshi. If people just use BTC for speculative transactions and trading, there is little reason to move their BTC onto a lightning channel as it does incur the cost of a tx fee to get it into lightning.
