In the holiday spirit, and as a thank you to the cryptocurrency community, we, at Crypto Pro are giving away brand new Apple Watch 5 to one lucky bag holders. Crypto Pro launched back in 2015 when Bitcoin was priced at $200 a pop, and Dogecoin ranked 7th. We wanted to create a small Apple Watch widget so that everyone can see Bitcoin’s price at the flick of a wrist. The app has gone a long way since then, and we have the reddit and cryptocurrency community to thank, for giving us both encouragements and constructive feedback to shape what the app is today. KYC measures in this space are extreme and beyond what’s required by law. Where does the line get drawn?

Coinbase just applied for a patent on a KYC process that’s far more draconian than required. https://www.coindesk.com/coinbase-patents-automated-kyc-enforcement-tool At what point do people stand for privacy anymore? These measures take control away from individuals and give them to financial establishments whose goals are self serving. Do people just simply not care about individual liberties anymore? If people do care, why are we collectively being so silent while this occurs? Submitted November 29, 2019 at 02:14AM by Zinclepto https://ift.tt/2OteYyS

[Lightning Network] Tippin button to get Bitcoin tips on your own web/blog/whatever, through LN (UPDATE)

Hi all! A few months back, I released this button as an option to receive Lightning Network tips on your Tippin account easily: You sign up at Tippin, you copy the button code & paste it on your web, and you are all set. However, there were some bugs and incompatibilities that should be fixed with this update. Also, now there is a *Dark mode*, in case the pink button was a little too much for your web color scheme. Here you have a short video showing the new design: https://twitter.com/tippin_me/status/1199798669211578368 (The updated code is live on Tippin.me) Hope you enjoy it! PS: As a bonus, know that if you have your own node linked to Tippin (A beta feature announced from time to time), you will be receiving those tips on your own node, by just placing this button whenever you want! in light of Upbit hack...

today, a major South Korean exchange Upbit was hacked and there's report that ~$50M worth of Ethereum is lost. multiple studies show that a lot of people store their Bitcoin/crypto on the exchange, never bothering to secure it themselves. this is wrong way to do Bitcoin. yes, i'm aware that it's been said numerous times before, but even if 10 people read it and do it properly, i'll take it as an achievement. you shouldn't trust your exchange with more than you're changing for your monthly needs. time to make your own wallet, maybe even invest into hardware wallet if you have more than you can afford to loose. do your own security research and do it now. multiple articles on the net on how to secure coins properly. don't wait for "proof of keys" day, do it today. exchanges are not bank accounts and not there for you to store your wealth. thanks. I want to get into bitcoin after watching for awhile

I have looked at bitcoin but never really thought about buying into it, I have used it a lot to buy stuff and to take payments but I never used it to invest. I have about $2000 in savings, Once it dips more if it does im looking invest at least $1k. my money is just sitting in my savings doing nothing. maybe invest 1k now and then over the next few months put some money in every month so its not all in at the same price. Is this a good move? I heard china is getting bitcoin in 2020. will that make the price go up a ton if they all buy it? My buddy was talking about it. Can you stop posting small shops accepting BTC like it's 2011?

Being accepted in a small shop in Thailand is not exciting. It's stagnation. Out of millions of shops worldwide a miniscule unimportant number of them accept it but nobody pays with it anyway so they quickly remove the option soon after the glorious post here. Instead let's focus on why it is so after so many years, what went wrong, when is a solution coming (LN) Edit : After seeing replies here that don't understand even what I am saying I totally lost hope Submitted November 25, 2019 at 06:25AM by banaca4 https://ift.tt/2XHvJJT

Why isn't there yet a good marketplace like Amazon/Ebay using exclusively Bitcoin for people to sell new and used merchandise worldwide?

I've been searching for marketplaces like this for a while now, and I can't find any serious business having done it yet and it just seems obvious to me that it would be a good service to develop. What are the impediments to have a real worldwide marketplace like this? Submitted November 25, 2019 at 02:08AM by MajorScientist https://ift.tt/34h1jAp

Who cares what the price is?

Nobody can time the market. Yah I’ve lost money, yah if I’d had sold a couple days ago would have made some money. But if my aunt had balls she’d be my uncle. Get a grip folks. Last time I saw this many shaky hands was at a retirement home. You all knew what you were getting into. This is the big leagues. If you want out, no ones stopping you. I will tell you most people who have sold bitcoin (particularly a few years ago) regret it every day of their lives. Imagine having the keys to the kingdom and throwing it away because of a price drop from $10 to $8. Everyone who did that would be filthy rich right now if they didn’t sell. Instead they can only dream of what could have been if they didn’t sell. Moral of the story. HODL Submitted November 25, 2019 at 08:06AM by fraqaq https://ift.tt/33fs33g

And whenever the price is low, even though I got it in during some fomo, cost average, if I was willing to drop $1200 on a tenth of a bitcoin, today's prices look like a bargain, I actually bought $508 of it yesterday. I didn't plug my money into the cryptomarket as well I could have, I should have averaged it out more across a longer period of time, that said, iirc the inflation on bitcoins mined and released into the market prior to the next halvening is high compared to say our fiat USD...that will drastically change 5-10 years out when the inflation rate is substantially lower than inflation on fiat. I believe there is a chance that the next recession could be a doozy, and say a substantial credit downgrade on US Treasury bonds, bond holders demanding higher interest rates, or the US somehow defaulting on its outstanding debt instead of say mass printing off a good $23,000,000,000,000 as opposed to of absolving itself from debt...there could be a major change in the worl

You wanna know how I got this stupid name? I went to bank a borrowed one year worth of wage exactly one year ago @4570$ and bought when market was bleeding. I repaid it when it was above 10k... I can do it again and wait for hyperbitcoinization. This is the buying window. Just keep your cash reserves and use newly printed bank money to buy bitcoin. How else can you cause hyperbitcoinization? Just buy, repay later (with safety net) and pump that. Someone is bleeding and needs to sell a lot of bitcoins in short amount of time. Faster it falls, faster you have to buy. Submitted November 22, 2019 at 09:47PM by 7bitcoin https://ift.tt/2s9OVUT

Bisq Decentralized Exchange live in China!

As China cracks down on centralized exchanges and popular P2P platforms like Localbitcoins adopt more KYC and restrictions, a uncensorable way to exchange Bitcoins for CNY in China is sorely needed. Bisq Network has managed to launch in China. Volumes and liquidity are still low: https://bisq.network/markets/?currency=btc_cny ...but if it proves as uncensorable as it claims, it could point the way for many other countries where governments restrict Bitcoin trading. AMA Bitcoin Mining / Stratum V2 — We are Braiins, the company behind Slush Pool and Stratum V2. We’re joined by Matt Corallo and Peter Todd. Ask us anything!

Hi r/Bitcoin ! We are Jan Capek ( u/janbraiins ) and Pavel Moravec ( u/p-m-o ), co-founders of Braiins (the company behind Slush Pool & Braiins OS). We recently published the specification for Stratum V2 — a new mining protocol that improves the decentralization, security, and efficiency of Bitcoin mining. We know the biggest issues miners and mining pools face based on our years of experience operating Slush Pool, and this protocol addresses those problems. You can find the documentation at stratumprotocol.org . Matt Corallo ( u/TheBlueMatt ) will also participate in the AMA. He joined us in Prague last September to hash out the details of the spec and his idea of allowing miners to select their own work in BetterHash is also implemented in Stratum V2. Peter Todd ( u/petertodd ) also joined the V2 team with his security expertise and will participate in this AMA. Ask us anything! We’ll try to begin answering questions on Thursday around 4pm CET (10am EST). P.S. The V2 t

I've sent a Bitcoin full node to Antarctica

I saw a post here a while ago where someone in the south of New Zealand pointed out they were running the world's southernmost Bitcoin full node. Recently a friend went to work in Antarctica for 3 months and needed a small laptop. So I set up a synced full node for him which he will be attempting to get online soon (there is connectivity at the station he is at). I know it's a long shot given the bandwidth requirements (he will need to download the few days of blocks that he has not been online while in transit). Also, does anyone know if I can somehow get the node to show on a node map given that he will most likely not be able to allow inbound connection to port 8333? I suspect that even if the node connects it may be hard to prove its location. Also, has this been done before? I could not find evidence of it. Small chance it works, it will be fun! After recent change in LocalBitcoins verifications procedure many users got into painful verification trap. I am among them. I actively trade on LocalBitcoins. My volume reached $200 000 some time ago, and with new verification system I got around 6 BTC trapped into LocalBitcoins. Unable to trade and unable to withdraw. Due to technical problems in verification module provided by onfido.com I can not pass liveness test. My verification status stuck in between. If someone is dealing with the same issue, lets gather here to discuss our options. Technical support keeps silence. During these days I've lost over $3500 in rate volatility. I don't think LBTC will cover these losses. Also no disclaimer for this risk is there... I don't want to go legal about this, even though I am quite desperate now... Maybe some public exposure of the problem will help, IDK. Submitted November 20, 2019 at 01:56AM by amochkin https://ift.tt/2QJwdxN

[Followup] 2014 Hong Kong Umbrella Movement Bitcoin Donations

I kept this in myself for quite a while, I think it's about time to share the story. In 2014, I asked a protester/livestreamer, James Bang to start accepting Bitcoin donations. Shortly thereafter Chris Ellis helped him set up a wallet. The Bitcoin community was generous and we threw together 3.72979341 BTC for the cause. However James contacted me and Chris, that he slept on the street that night, he lost his phone and he did not have a wallet backup. Later that day James in his livestream I saw he bought about a hundred boxes of dimsum and claimed it was from the Bitcoin donations, then he started giving it out to protesters. I think he did not want to lose face and he rather spent his own money on it. At that time I was thinking what the right course of action is, and I decided to keep silent about it and keep watching the Bitcoin address if the money moves or not. The following year I checked it every day. Today, 5 years later, the funds still did not move, so I think

According to the charts and my eyes, this will be the last dip before we take off. I don't generally post such sweeping statements, never have in fact. But I've been predicting all the last few jumps and falls with surprising accuracy. And since I don't have proof of my previous predictions and I don't want to share my buy/sell data, I thought I'd make this post to document this prediction. Essentially, it might drop a bit more, but then go up. It might drop or stay around 8K at the most up till the end of this month, but my data indicates it's more likely to recover this weekend rather than next. Then it will continue rising at a much steadier pace than in 2017. Compared to 2017, there will be a 1:10 time ratio (deviating between 1:9 and 1:12). Which means the rise will take place over 30 months until the bubble forms. This is a prediction up till before the volatile peak, not to the new ATH because the data is too volatile to predict that exactly. While 30

I just got paid in Bitcoin!

I decided to try a new monetization approach in my test game - the game serves ads, but anyone can donate small amount of bitcoin and it will dynamically lower the chance that every other player will see an ad. It is targeted towards casual audiences, with no crypto overlap whatsoever. To be honest, I did not expect any donations. I just received first bitcoin donation for my game and I have to say, it is more than what the ads earned so far :-) I just wanted to share the joy. :-) Edit: Well, there goes my joy. This is actually against Google Play policy so I removed the donation (and the ads, even though the donation target for was not reached). It is a shame. I really liked the wholesomeness of it... So how works u/Bitwala ? Forget about Bitwala, in reality you are dealing with a german bank named SolarisBank AG ( VAT ID: DE301501229 ). Your bank account opened with u/Bitwala , is under their control. Bitwala, as stated by their costumer agents, cannot influence any decision regarding it, also the freeze of your funds. Owning ONE Bitcoin

Keep in mind that you are really lucky! Owning one BTC might me enough to pay for a house one day or even to be completely financial independent. I don't even own a quater of a btc and I'm a student and at least 2 more years to go until I get my bachelor degree. I try to accumulate as much as I can but my student job just pays for food and rent. I'm afraid I will never own one whole BTC because of the next bull market. I think that owning one Bitcoin is the goal of almost everyone in this subreddit and you already achieved it! And to everyone who's still accumulating, I wish you good luck and hope you will achieve the goal you set yourself! Have a wonderful day everyone! This total number won't be reached until 2140 due to Bitcoin's issuance schedule . Total number of millionaires (in USD value) worldwide is around 33 million ( source ). The math is simple: there is not enough Bitcoin in the world for even HALF of today's millionaires to own just ONE SINGLE BITCOIN. Much less all the future millionaires that will be born as the human population approaches 10bn . Bitcoin is SCARCE. Check out the S2F model for a good explanation of why scarcity and value correlate. If you are able to acquire even one BTC today: Enjoy the feeling. You are an early adopter. And one of a limited few. Edit: And never-mind the haters that will say something asinine like "my pubic hairs are limited in number too..." Your pubic hairs have zero utility, whereas every day Bitcoin proves it has ex

My take on bitcoin

I was late to get into bitcoin, first time i bought was earlier this year but in a very short amount of time my whole view on what bitcoin is to me has radically changed. Bitcoin has got me interested in Finance, history, politics, news (i try and stay away from mainstream) but what is becoming very clear to me is that the world is changing RIGHT NOW. And what is to say that my country in a few years wont be in the same situation as Hong Kong, venezuela, chile, argentina.. Probably not, but we cant know for sure. I dont want to be stuck in a cashless society with extremely limited possibilities of free trade. In my personal view this is one of the biggest reasons that i hold bitcoin right now. I want to have the oppertunity in the future to not be stuck to the laws of a government wich is no better than me and sure as hell has no say over what i do with my money as long as my actions dont do anyone no harm. I follow the daily price of bitcoin of course but it dont affect me too muc

The Stratum V2 spec is here: V2 is a feature-rich upgrade that makes Bitcoin mining more decentralized, secure, and efficient.

I'm going all in (hear me out before you downvote)

Normally, I'd would say that anyone who is willing to put 100% of their assets in any one thing is absolutely nuts. However, my situation is quite unique. I am 22 years old and going to graduate with a degree in engineering this coming May. I have no student loans, no debt, and no gf. As soon as I graduate, I am moving to rural Africa for 2.5 years with a guaranteed living wage and heath insurance. I will receive ~11K USD when I return in fall 2022. I am only able to bring 100 lbs of my things. I have been steadily accumulating BTC and a few shitcoins since late 2016. I remember the euphoria of the 2017 bull run vividly. I firmly believe that Bitcoin specifically is going to be the solution to the global debt problem and is bound to displace gold and a large portion of most fiat currencies. I can't imagine that there will not be another outrageous run-up between now and when I return. Over the course of the next 6 months, I plan to slowly sell everything that I own (a car a
