The people can win.

For the people that feel melancholic because bitcoin hasn't vaulted over $100k yet.... The best wars are the non-viølent wars because when the enemy capitulates they will be forced to live in the world you create when you win. You forget something? Did you forget that all the elites in our society, the richest people in the world, and all the corrupt politicians are the ones closest to the money printer. Did you forget that the mainstream economists and internet keyboard warriors failed to fix the system after the 2008 crash. That the banks thrived. Did you think this was going to be easy!?! I remember giving out "Free Tibet" stickers and "bitcoin" stickers on WallStreet. I remember protesting the military-industrial complex in Washington. All the movements that are for the people have setbacks and hindrances. They have failures and defeats. But we win. We build the bitcoin network. We forget the fluctuations and focus on the fundamentals. Because the

Anyone else have trouble deciding whether to pay off debts earlier or use that money to buy more Bitcoin?

I hate the idea of having things that I still need to pay off (even my house), but I have a hard time justifying paying those off when I could be using that money to buy something that will return me way more in the long run than the interest that would accrue on my debts. What do you all do? Edit: Three 0% credit cards. 3.5% mortgage. I'm silly for even asking this question. Back to sat stackin' Submitted July 30, 2022 at 12:21AM by _trevor_ https://ift.tt/c8M53uv

In a deflationary world, whoever born earlier will have a massive advantage over those who come after. With the same amount of work, he will accumulate "value" over time. Those who come after will get paid less for the same amount of work. How do we solve this problem?

When I look back I feel really dumb

I lived through the financial crisis of 2008, and as a mortgage broker, it was extremely difficult to keep my head above water. Mortgage activity was reduced to basically zero, and I cycled through several second jobs just to cover my own personal expenses. I heard about Bitcoin and like everyone in the beginning, I thought it was a novelty at best, more likely to end up as some sort of gaming currency than anything like it has become today. Plus, it took every dollar I earned just to keep no creditor more than 60 days in arrears. It was a REALLY tough time, for about 2 and a half years. I managed to keep the company solvent and was happy to enjoy the next decade or so of prosperity, and did very well, until the recent economic dumpster fire began earlier this year. Now I have time to think back.... The painful part : I had a room full of Dell PowerEdge servers that either sat idle, or churned away completing SETI@home work units (for fun) while business was in the crapper. Had I

Just updating this weeks numbers. 35 BTC were traded in Venezuela last week only measured using LocalBitcoin. Monthly minimum wage still at 23 USD.

Hi guys, as I have been doing for years, updating this week numbers. I usually post it in crypto, but lately have been posting it here, as it talks directly about bitcoin ! A big drop from 45 BTC to 35 BTC, I don't see a reason considering price has been almost constant this week. Binance trades way more but they do make public the stats. This is only being measure using LocalBitcoin. Monthly minimum wage is 23 USD, average is around 100 USD. People use crypto to get rid of Bolivares and escape inflation, also to receive money from abroad, exchange their mining profit (mining here in theory is legal, but not safe anyway, electricity is free but unreliable). The bitcoin network is secured by 900 bitcoins being printed a day

The 900 bitcoins a day are the block rewards given to miners to secure the network and process transactions. This block reward decreases by a factor of 2 every 4 years. Daily transaction fees have hovered around 10 bitcoins a day for most of bitcoins existence, only spiking during periods of heavy bull runs, where price increases made paying high transaction fees tenable. Over the long term I would expect transaction fees to average around this 10 BTC mark. Is 10 BTC a day enough to secure the network 30+ years from now when block rewards are 128th (2 7) what they are now and still declining? There's many people who won't buy Bitcoin because they don't invest at all

Recently had a conversation with a 64 year old coworker who believes the stock market/investing is a scam. It's one of those conversations where I just let the other person talk to understand their perspective. I have no interest in changing someone's mind especially when they are this late in the game. She got burned in 2000 and 2008. I didn't venture to ask what her situation is now. But it did get me thinking about the majority of people. Most people do not invest. Of the ones that do, this is mostly through passive strategies. Although I believe Bitcoin will eventually fully integrate into the traditional investing world, there will be many people who really don't care. That is a little depressing to think about but that's mostly human nature. I personally know 2 doctors with crippling debt who are living paycheck to paycheck (lifestyle creep is real, especially with doctors' wives). Bitcoin Mining and Stabilizing the Power Grid - Is that Really a Use Case?

I work for a power utility company and deal with grid enhancements as a profession. I am also a Crypto/Bitcoin enthusiast. Lately I've been seeing a lot of chatter about the ways Bitcoin can stabilize the grid, essentially taking excess energy (that would otherwise be wasted) and put that towards the Bitcoin protocol. However, one simple question, why could this energy not be stored in say a battery storage system, or hydro/gravity storage? I want to like the Bitcoin Mining to help the grid idea, but I don't buy it yet. See below, thread claims that the Bitcoin mining can help stabilize the grid. While this is not necessarily wrong, this energy could just be stored as well... demand response systems are also vastly improving, so the idea of "we have excess energy we can't use" idea is going out the window and fast. https://preview.redd.it/22nlhgu995c91.jpg?width=598&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=84b9a7360df131426112d09c3d8a0762642e1f20 Again, this is

Please understand what "1 btc = 1 btc" really means

Often a bitcoiner will say "1 btc = 1 btc" and then someone, thinking they are clever, will respond with "well 1 usd = 1 usd" - so I'd like to explain the flaw in this response, and I'll use a simple example to do so. Let's take some constant, like "1 meter." The "meter" is defined as the length of the path travelled by light in a vacuum during a time interval of 1/299,792,458 of a second. Since the speed of light does not change, the length light travels in that time in a vacuum does not change. Therefore, the meter is an unchanging and permanently fixed constant backed by physics and mathematics, i.e. "1 meter = 1 meter." If the speed of light were somehow centrally planned and constantly changing (read: inflating), then 1 meter would not be a reliable and we could not measure length effectively. Buildings could not be built and no one would be able to communicate distance. You can substitute the meter with any other m

Why not wait until next halving to put funds in?

My friend and I are both math nerds and they were asking about how Bitcoin works. I explained as much as I could in the 25 minutes they were available to talk during their lunch break. They asked a question I seem to have never thought of for some reason: If Bitcoin pumps shortly after every halving, why not wait until the next halving (May 2024) to put any funds into Bitcoin? I could not answer this one, except to suggest that it does not hurt to dollar cost average into Bitcoin as that is how the safer person would do things. Why I’ve been wearing my Bitcoin attire for over half a decade, and will continue wearing it no matter what people try. I don’t carry my private keys or cold storage wallets with me, so even if someone managed to kill me they still wouldn’t take my families life changing Bitcoin from them

I’m from the ghetto, so people would have to be dumb to try to mug someone who’s always armed who grew up in Compton and knows how to recognize a mark. The only ever attempt to mug me as an adult, after over half a decade of wearing Bitcoin attire in one of the most populated cities in America, was a few weeks ago when people were mugging everyone in wealthy areas in nice cars like Beverly Hills. I was in my Tesla and noticed an SUV following me from the store home as my car drove me back. They stopped two cars away from where I parked, in the middle of the street. One guy got out and walked over to the passenger door of their car while continuously looking over at me, which I could see through my rear view mirror, watching me, waiting for me to get out of my car for over ten minutes. After confirming the mark on me by waiting them out, I grabbed my registered hand gun from my center consul and went to the trunk of my car to grab a samurai sword I always carry around to hold it in

does anyone else think a slow takeoff of bitcoin is preferrable to a fast one?

If bitcoin became a globally recognized store of value tomorrow what would happen is: every country and corporation would rush to get some price would immediately blow sky high I think consequences for most people would be pretty awful, except for early holders. If you're a normie, good luck ever getting even 1/10th of a bitcoin. Whereas if it takes a long, slow time to take off? Like, say just repeating the trend of the last 10 years over again? We get another 10 years of exposure, growth. The people who benefit are those who believe in sound money, not people who just happened to have money now. Consequences for people on the outside or slower, more spread out. Fewer of the davos crowd make it onto the boat, because they'll remain in denial far longer than ordinary people. Given that, plus the general notion of 'low time preference', i'm feeling more and more that i'd rather this thing took off slowly. I stopped 'selling' anyone on bitcoin un

Bitcoin enters the debate as bankruptcy declared in Sri Lanka

The presidential residence of the Asian country Sri Lanka was taken over this July 9 by a massive number of inhabitants protesting the national bankruptcy announced this week. The situation has spread a wave of comments on social networks about whether such a scenario would happen in other countries and what would be the role of Bitcoin (BTC). However, it is evident that several locals have been receiving items from the online ecommerce Exeno. "Most people think bankruptcy is something that could never happen to them. Yet 1.5 million Americans a year file for bankruptcy. Now imagine your country does that and you have no control over the events and monetary policy leading up to it. Bitcoin is insurance against that." The leading cryptocurrency allows you to keep your money under self-custody, so you could safeguard the value in the face of an economic crisis. Or even in case of a possible "corralito" of banks, as happened a few decades ago in Argentina. Submi

Mining is currently 10^20 times more lucrative than cracking accounts on average.

The largest account has 168000 bitcoin. Brute forcing a private key takes around 2^125 attempts. That means each brute force computation yields on average 4 * 10^-25 satoshi. Mining difficulty is currently 2.95 Tr, and mining yields about 6.3 bitcoin (including fees). That means each brute force attempt yields on average 2 * 10^-5 satoshi. Mining is therefore 10^20 times more cost effective on average than theft by brute force. Edit: At current hash rates of 10^18 EH/s, brute force theft yields about 1 satoshi per month (on average). Price dump is from over leveraged derps like TerraUSD, Celsius, Three Arrows, Blockfi, Voyager dumping to try and save themselves.

Of course, we know this has failed and over leveraged longs got caught as well. Then miners need to dump to pay the bills. What is making the big money sh*t their pants though is retail keeps on buying and long term hodlers keep on hodling. Bitcoin keeps moving off exchanges and into cold storage. This all makes me think the halving cycle will be a little different this time. Would not be surprised to see an all time high before the next halving. Sure, wait for it to go lower if you like and it may well do so but I see the risk on the upside and shorts getting rekt. If you bought most of your Bitcoin in 2021, this is the greatest opportunity to AVERAGE DOWN your purchase price. If you believe in Bitcoin, do NOT stop buying.

Here's an example: Let's say you managed to buy 1 BTC last year at an average price of $40k. Now you have to wait for the price to get back to $40k to "break even". Here are some scenarios: If you buy 1 BTC at $19k , you lower your average purchase price to $29k. If you buy 0.25 BTC at $19k , you lower your average purchase price to $35k. If you buy 0.10 BTC at $19k , you lower your average purchase price to $38k. So as you can see, if you buy again, even if it's just a little, it will help a lot to lower down your cost basis. Now, if the price keeps dropping even further, things get really interesting. For example, let's say the price crashes in a black swan event down to $8k. You have 2 choices: 1) Just HODL and hope that Bitcoin one day goes back to $40k so that you can break even. 2) Buy a lot more, for example: You buy 2 additional BTC and lower your average purchase price to $18k!!! Now if Bitcoin goes back up to $18k you are breaking even.

📊 Bitcoin 🥇 Due Diligence and Technical Analysis 📊

This is why Bitcoin had been under pressure to begin with: It became evident that hedge funds were short-selling tether and Bitcoin in a coordinated attack, in an egregious attempt to establish for themselves a discount prior to buying up the crypto community. Why? Well, it became obvious that their agenda was to crash prices simply because they had an interest to buy. Goldman Sachs, for example, blasted Bitcoin a few weeks ago, calling it 'not viable.' Yet, they were simultaneously in talks to buy crypto assets and derivatives. Goldman even downgraded Coinbase among others to a 'sell' shortly before engaging to buy Celsius . This is straight out of the Hedge Fund playbook: short-sell companies and industries during low liquidity periods in order to force an epic discount so they can take ownership of them outright. In combination with the planned acquisitions which reveal bullish outlooks, some of the hedge funds are already flipping from short to long. For e

Celsius, BlockFi, Voyager… these are organisations who employ intelligent, experienced people with high salaries. How on earth do they not have contingency plans for Bitcoin’s price cycles?

I don’t know cryptocurrency inside out… but surely someone who is being paid by one of these organisations knows more about it than me. So this is what really confuses me - can anyone explain to me how one of these companies doesn’t have a standardised contingency or “risk assessment” for when cryptocurrency loses value? Like, surely they’re aware that crypto is volatile and can lose 75% (or more) of it’s value at any time. These organisations are full of intelligent people, probably on salaries I could only dream of. Surely there would be a plan for this? Can anyone explain why people and organisations vastly more experienced in Bitcoin than me are so ill-prepared for a significant fall in value? It’s so strange!
