2/3 of all Bitcoin is illiquid (not moving or being sold) even after all the fear / crypto winter crash and economic forecasts on the global stage. so only 1/3 of bitcoin is being traded back and forth and is available for purchase. I have been posting this for the last years also I usually post in the cryptocurrency subreddit but like to post it here as the main currency talked here is the BTC, also some people stay in this sub and avoid the cryptocurrency one! Last week exchange rate increased from less than 6 Bs. per USD to almost 8 Bs. per USD. Monthly minimum wage has been a wild ride, from 1 USD monthly to 30 USD and now around 16 USD. Average wage is around 100 USD monthly. Full admit, I was jelly other people were making millions of free sats by paying their mortgages with PP billpay and Fold. Finally, my loan changed to Mr Cooper and they participate on PP billpay service So now, like literally everything else I buy or pay; I can use my best credit card for the mortage payment, collect cash back, then use my Fold card to pay off the credit card and get free BTC back on top of that. The double dip move. It should be about $90, half cash and half BTC every time I pay my mortgage now. I've made 750k free sats in 3 months using Fold but I should be making that at least every month now. I keep considering a dedicated bitcoin hardware wallet, but I keep coming back to using an old mobile phone that's encrypted at OS level, permanently in aeroplane mode (no SIM, WIFI networks deleted), and running BlueWallet with encrypted password. Here's my logic: Once the phone goes cold (i.e. radio disabled), I create a wallet in Bluewallet (or Electrum etc.) and can then use it as a signing device via QR codes (i.e. fully air-gapped). it's cheap, I can audit the Bluewallet source code, compile and install it myself, it's encypted (by Bluewallet, and also possibly OS-level) it's fully air-gapped (no need to connect it to an internet-connected PC) to anyone who finds it, it just looks like a old mobile phone - not a digital treasure chest that's worth days/weeks of hacking What am I missing? I recently wanted to set up a Bitcoin Full Node and therefore checked beforehand how big the blockchain actually is: over 420 GB. Since this is a considerable size, I researched the fastest way to get the blockchain on my PC and in fact I didn't find a single piece of information that was relatively new. Even the official Bitcoin documentation still mentions around 200 GB and that it could take several weeks depending on the device. Then I found another website that offers full node dumps to speed up the process: https://blockchair.com/dumps#nodes The problem: The download is limited to 100 kbit/s, so the download takes more than a month. I imagine there are enough other people asking the same question, which is why I'm writing this post. Since I couldn't find any useful NEW info on the internet, and the blockchain dumps I found take too long to download, I took it into my own hands and played around with bitcoind's parameters. My setup: OS: Fedora Linux 36 CP

I do not want to stir the pot but I want you to make informed trades, if you ever agree to participate in crypto trading. In 2010 after the HFT feast on the market during the 2007-2009 subprime market meltdown, a practice called "layering", ie spamming one side of the book, was outlawed. At that time HFT was like shooting fish in a barrel. I remember making +50 million dollars for my hedge fund in 10 minutes with just one process running in one box inside NYSE's datacenter. We did that mostly by duping the market. Because we knew we were the fastest in the market, and we could cancel all our orders at any time very fast, we would place an outrageous amount of orders on one side of the book in such a way that anybody watching from a Bloomberg terminal would have the impression that someone big was trying to buy (

I'm relatively new at investing in crypto assets, although I'm an engineer and have known about bitcoin almost since its beginnings. I came into a windfall recently and decided to put a large amount into bitcoin as a hedge for the next 5 or 10 years. Being ignorant of exchanges, I decided to "test" three exchanges and see which ones offered the best fees and service. I'll skip the comprehensive review of all three exchanges and get to the point -- Coinbase took my money, let me buy a single bitcoin, and then refused to transfer that coin into my own wallet. They have blocked all "sending" of crypto assets from my account and are keeping my coin hostage. Going three rounds with their ironically-named "customer support" they say they're "doing it to protect me." As though it somehow protects me if they force me to sell my bitcoin (with their relatively high fees) and suck the fiat currency back out. So, that protected me how?? F
I used up 45 pounds of resin and glass and inhaled dizzying amounts of resin dust while polishing but the result was absolutely worth it. Bitcoin forever

Good morning. I hope everyone who reads this is doing well today. I’ve been in the crypto space for four years now. We have all seen projects come and go, hacks, shills, scammers, government interference, and ups and downs regarding this relatively new space. The one project that isn’t subjected to this is Bitcoin. It seems as if all roads lead back to Bitcoin at the end of the day. It’s not subjected to the flaws of human nature like any other coin that has a team behind it. I’ve never considered myself a bitcoin maximalist, but now I might. Everyone in here is screaming the bear market is over, but im seeing whats going on in china and getting a little worried. Also there is a chance of bank run and the government announced they will be only compensating a maximum of 15k to the costumers of one of the biggest banks who is being investigated for ties with organized crime. Hi, I’m doing this AMA as a way to bring closure to a bad period in my life. Me and co-defendants sold marijuana bought off of Alphabay (dark web marketplace). It’s rare for LE to go after buyers rather than vendors. I was the leader so to speak that orchestrated the whole thing. We live in the US in states with extremely strict laws regarding marijuana (South). We operated around 3 years. Due to lack of evidence, I got probation for 5 years but got off the first week. (No that’s not a typo) One co-defendant got 5 years prison but only served 2 years because of good behavior. No other arrests was made with crew I was over: We were not in the same state. The states neighbored each other and wasn’t a far drive from each other. We both refused to cooperate with investigation so they “threw the book at us”. I’d be happy to answer any questions. The 3rd largest remittance market, The Philippines, receives over $30 Billion per-year primarily driven by "OFWs" (Overseas Filipino Workers). While primarily driven by traditional remittances via Western Union or other similar services to a "Cash Pick-Up counter" in the Philippines, it comes with an average transaction time of 3 days and costs 7% in fees. More Filipinos are turning to bitcoin wallet apps with traditional rails in the Philippines like the Coins.ph bitcoin/crypto (shitcoin) wallet, or the newer Pouch.ph lightning wallet. I'm biased as the founder of Pouch.ph . We launched our banking rails just 3 months ago and last month we processed nearly $100,000 USD worth of BTC=>PHP remittances. We are just now working with regulators in the Philippines -- One of our most frustrating constraints is the requirement to "KYC" our users (collect Photo Ids) so that they can participate in digital finance -- while half of the population does not

This story really stuck with me and made me realize just how dangerous it is to trust banks with your money. Back in 2019 my friend was about to purchase an apartment from a real estate developer. Now the way it works in my country is that you see a home that you are sure you want, you then make something that is called a precontract, with which you bind yourself to purchase the home at a later date (after you get the loan). Now if for any reason the buyer backs off or is unable to make the payment before a certain date, he has to pay some damages to the developer as agreed in the precontract (in my friend's case this was €10.000). So my friend, being confident that he will buy the apartment signs this pre-contract and goes loan shopping. Literally 3 days before the deadline to pay the developer he wakes up to find his bank account frozen. The reason? Years before he was working as self employed and some moron from the tax authority who didn't know how to add figured out my
