Argentina's inflation rate is 50%. Why are they not all buying tons of Bitcoin?

I live in the USA, where the inflation rate of 7% is freaking everyone out. But Argentina's inflation rate has been 50% or more for the past few years. I cannot understand why people there would not be rushing to turn their pesos into Bitcoin. Even with the volatility and price drops of Bitcoin, it seems to be an obviously MUCH better place to put your money than the Argentine peso. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/money/other/argentina-e2-80-99s-dystopian-reality-where-inflation-runs-at-50-per-cent/ar-AASYk8K Submitted January 30, 2022 at 11:19AM by Effective_Positive_8 https://ift.tt/zn4XFxpwh

I'm a bank teller at a large North American Bank, and every day I'm reminded how much we need Bitcoin.

As someone who works for a bank in a customer-facing retail setting I'm one of the first people they come to when they have banking issues they need help with, or complaints with our policies. These issues/complaints include any and all of the following: Credit/debit card fraud in which their card is being used without their permission. Card fraud in which their card/personal details where stolen either through phishing or a similar scam. Cards being locked due to "suspicious transactions"(which might not even be suspicious in many cases which just frustrates people) Checks being put on hold for anywhere between 1-6 business days, or even up to 10 for big checks. Accounts being partially frozen or even closed due to potential fraud activity. Payment apps like Zelle either not letting people link their accounts, or blocking payments due to lack of similar payment activity or whatever they deem "suspicious activity" Customer cannot easily tr

Worst case scenario Biden permanently bans crypto and shuts down all CEX. What do you do next?

1.) You sell all of your crypto (possibly at loss), cash out and never bother again. 2.) You send all your crypto to a hot wallet like Electrum or Exodus and hodl indefinitely 3.) You get a cold wallet, store them there and quietly use them, either on deep web or P2P generally 4.) Move abroad, in a country where cryptos are legal Personally I'd go for (3) . I think its really cool trading crypto, being financially free, even if price goes downwards. What would you do in such a post-apocalyptic scenario ? US Gov't is about to invest in bitcoin. Putin just "directed the Central Bank of Russia not to neglect the advantages of Bitcoin mining." Biden's executive order of national security is not to regulate bitcoin. It's to buy bitcoin in the name of national security. My source is my ass.

Putin Says Russia Has a “Competitive Advantage” in Crypto Mining https://finance.yahoo.com/news/putin-says-russia-competitive-advantage-062306145.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAEdMgz7b-3mB8WxywAAY3cxLPugez7EgoPJGRBTZVb5AWx9u4GGZjfaOlOdMK9sBrX3mbBexVwZ-0C8sb0bbtgDBCSlChh31o97r4OuelL795QU4DlInpJkAB7Uq8XnszohHbyYYVqki__Aro6EAhatDxC1BdLmZhO_lBp3WcOJl Putin said, "The central bank does not stand in our way of technical progress and is making the necessary efforts to introduce the latest technologies in this area of activity." The US has no choice but to allow bitcoin. My conspiracy theory: After Putin said for the Russian Central banks to mine bitcoin, Biden's military advisers gave the green light for Biden to issue an exec order is to print money to buy bitcoin. It will also to start building nuclear power plants to mine bitcoin. Logic and game theory dictates this action. Submitted January 28, 2022

SEC repeatedly rejecting spot ETF while approving Futures is a blatant attempt to grab regulatory authority. The SEC is not acting in the interests of the people it is sworn to protect

Just now the SEC rejected the Fidelity spot ETF application, with the usual concerns about manipulation. How can the spot ETF suffer from manipulation risk when the SEC themselves allowed the futures ETF which according to them doesnt suffer from manipulation? Both of them are the same market. Lets say US retail and institutions, who the SEC wants to protect, have invested in BITO.. and over the weekend when BITO isn't traded, someone unknown to the market borrows a ton of money and also dumps million BTC on Bitfinex and crashes the price. Manipulation.. probably? But it doesn't make BITO free from manipulation, on Monday when it trades, BITO will just follow the spot price and dumps as well. Even BITO would be manipulated. So manipulation in spot - the SEC must protect, but manipulation in CME futures as a result of spot manipulation is fine? How does it even make sense? "Manipulation" bs is just a big smokescreen to hide what the SEC really wants.. The real r

To those of you kicking yourselves for buying bitcoin at $40/$50/$60k

It’s so easy now to look back at your investments over the last few months and think ‘if’ you’d have waited or done things differently you’d be financially in a better position, but exposure is the most important thing, if you hadn’t invested back then and bitcoin went on to be $100k now you’d be just as, if not more annoyed at yourself! It’s all part of the journey so continue to DCA if the price continues to go down, lowering your average buy price and before you know it you’ll be buying more again as we are going back up and through the $40/$50/$60k levels. When Bitcoin goes to $100k, I'm going all in.

Let's be honest, I've been in this space for over ten years and nothing has made me buy more Bitcoin than FOMOing in at the top. In the long run, it's never mattered. When I was a newb, the dips would scare me yes, but I kept DCAing in anyway. However, when we hit peaks, that's when I really started FOMOing in my full paychecks during my DCA buy ins. I don't expect to stop that tradition anytime soon. So while you're all waiting for $10k to go all in, I'm staying true to my bad old habits that will never die and have served me well. I'll FOMO in everything I have just as I've done every time before. In the long run, it's always never mattered how high I bought in at anyway. So as my motto goes, buy high and never sell. So eff all the waiting for the dips to buy mentality. My DCA amount stays the same no matter how low we go, because that's how dumb the emotions and decision makings of my monkey brain are. The only thing that is getting my

FED are screwed either way. If they really want to fix the inflation they need much higher interest rates than 1-1.25%. If they bring up the interest rate to 2-3% they will destroy the market, housing market, unemployment will skyrocket. The only thing they can do is to continue printing and increasing the balance sheet. If they want to fix it they need to "reset the economy"(Great reset) or make Bitcoin the new gold standard. Using decommissioned nuclear aircraft carriers as bitcoin mining facilities in international waters

Fun science fiction idea? You wouldn't need the plane runways anymore so you could just cover them with solar panels and put wind turbines at each end. You could still keep the helipad for emergencies. We already have satellites in orbit specifically for the bitcoin network. Tax free, solar/wind/nuclear powered, bitcoin mining! They could probably even put down anchors and get some hydro power too. Submitted January 18, 2022 at 04:00AM by halfapestyle https://ift.tt/3If6y7C

24 BTC were traded in Venezuela last week only using LocalBitcoin, around 8% of the total traded worldwide. Other exchanges used here are Binance (king by far), AirTM, Reserve among others. Still, monthly minimum wage is around 2 USD! AMA

Just updating this week numbers, 24 BTC traded (around 1millon USD). Remember only measured with LocalBitcoin. There you can go BTC > Bs. (Bolivares, national currency) and Bs. > BTC. I'm a Venezuelan living in the country. The week before was 25 BTC, almost the same. Binance is king, the P2P option to go: From Bs. to USDT, BTC, BUSD, BNB, ETH, SLP (yep, you can go direcly from SLP to Bs), DAI and DASH and from these coins to Bs. Sadly, Binance doesn't offer the stats of the amound traded. But it is safe to assume Binance has absorbed all the amount that LocalBitcoin used to trade (In 2019 beween 5-10 millon USD were traded weekly, now it is around 1million). Some remarks: Four months ago, goverment removed six zeroes from the currency, meaning 1,000,000 "old" Bs. are now 1 "new" Bs. Today 1 BTC is around 220,000 "new" Bs. months ago it would have been 220,000,000,000 "old" Bs. Monthly minimum wage is 2 USD that is for publ

Bitcoin up 150+% over the last 3 years

2019: Bitcoin up 92% 2020: Bitcoin up 305% 2021: Bitcoin up 62% Total: 459%, or 153% average gain since 2019 I think these are going to be more of what we can expect in years to come, not the 50% drop in 2018 or the 1400% moon shot in 2017. Be humble, knowing you are on the right side of history, and expect 50-100% per year, and anything else is a gravy. You'll live a happier life that way. (However, I think this year will be over 100%. More like 2020 than last year, but don't be greedy.) Ask Gold bugs if they'd take 50-100% a year. Submitted January 16, 2022 at 07:31PM by TheFutureofMoney https://ift.tt/3txpbiM

I have been traveling the world for 5 years on a small income from my medical retirement from the military and met an amazing woman in South America. We just opened a private charter jet company (she has been working in this space for 6 years). And we proudly accept BTC. I once saw the power in using crypto when I paid for part of my stay at a hotel in Colombia where my payment hit their account in minutes. The banking system is too slow. And they have too much power over our money. I will be having meetings with other brokers and charter jet providers about accepting Bitcoin too. Bitcoin helped me quit smoking cigarettes.

Bitcoin helped me quit smoking cigarettes. So for a year now I would DCA into buying Bitcoin instead of buying cigarettes. A pack cost $9 where I am at and I usual smoked that pack in two days. So I started buying BTC every other day instead of smokes. Got the idea from an older coworker who would put away $5 a day instead of buying smokes and buy himself something nice at the end of the year, usually a Rolex or some type of wrist watch. Well in the end I ended up with 0.0434 BTC in a year, and a lot in fees lol but it was worth it. Hopefully someone who’s been on the fence about quitting smoking reads this and gets the encouragement/ motivation to quit! You can do it! Understanding the upcoming inflation and why it wont be transitory !

You have probably heard of the money printer going BRRRRRR during the pandemic and the currently high inflation resulting from that. You may have also heard that the US federal reserve Bank (FED) and probably also the European Zentral Bank (EZB) are going to raise interest rates in the coming years to put everything to normal. This is what central bankers and high ranked politicians currently want you to belief, maybe some of them believe it themselves but it doesn't change the fact that it is a straight lie ! We are about to witness an unprecedented inflation period affecting the entire western world. To prevent the whole system from collapsing, these authorities are doing the only thing they can. It is necessary to stretch this period over several years keep the masses calm during the process of devaluation. This is why they assure you: it is only transitory / we are raising interest rates and this will fix it / ... and so on. Sadly this is complete BS. Here is the real situa

TRADE VS HODL

https://ift.tt/3zPqWcl Submitted January 12, 2022 at 06:04PM by EdwardParker1224 https://ift.tt/33nR5CW

Lessons I’ve learned after 7 years of hodling.

Back in late 2014 I bought my first coins, here’s what I’ve learned since… Hodling is simple, but it isn’t easy. When you get rich very few will be genuinely happy for you. Try to keep your success as quiet as possible. Consistency is key. DCA + smash buying helps soothe emotional volatility. Have a plan and stick to it. The mainstream news is always hilariously wrong about bitcoin. Shitcoins are a high risk / high reward proposition. DONT TRADE. But If you are going to trade you need to measure your performance in bitcoin terms. Mining is a profession, not a hobby. Frugality is paramount. If people aren’t laughing at your lifestyle, you probably aren’t hodling or stacking hard enough. Submitted January 11, 2022 at 07:52PM by Hodlbitcoins https://ift.tt/3ncJzly

Is 0.28 BTC still an noble/achievable goal for the average person?

In terms of long term wealth building, eventual payoff, and safety net? The 0.28 number seems to always be thrown around, but is there a consensus on whether it's still relevant? When people ask me questions about BTC, I always respond with "one if you can afford it, or as much as you can until then," but this doesn't seem to stick with people as much as exact numbers. I try to never give investment/financial advice unless people directly ask for it, but of course when it comes to Bitcoin people are either fascinated or laugh it off. Serious Discussion: what will it really take to accelerate mass adoption?

It took the lemmings over a decade to start using email. I’ve heard stories of people getting their secretary to print their emails out for them. Then they write their reply for their secretary to respond to the sender using her boss’ email. How many lemmings out there even understand the global debt based fiat monetary system before they even have a rudimentary understanding of blockchain or Bitcoin? For example, some of them don’t even know how to properly use Microsoft Teams or SharePoint and we expect those same people to know how to use a Ledger hardware wallet? Essentially, IMHO I think the only way we get mass adoption is when people use Bitcoin by default because they just don’t know any better. Would appreciate any thoughts, perspectives, or ideas on this. Edit: I understand that using the term “lemmings” is a pejorative and insulting to some. I only use it out of frustration as these are the same people that laugh at, insult, and look down upon with disdain and derision

Should every person in the crypto market buy bitcoin by default?

Safe to say that BTC is king. Without it the market stagnates and few cryptos experience decent growth. Therefore should every single person in the crypto market hold btc by default? Bitcoin as a retirement account?

I am 31, and wondering if anyone else around this age has chosen to not put money into a retirement account at work and instead put it into Bitcoin instead? Obviously this isn’t a very traditional or risk-off approach but I believe in this thing and I think it could work. It’s been amazing watching Bitcoin transcend into society over the past year. Or if not retirement, do you do anything against the grain or that is not very common with Bitcoin that you don’t know anyone else does? How I Opted Out of Fiat

Been seeing a lot of threads the last couple of weeks about people wanting to opt out of fiat but not sure how. Thought I'd share my experience. It might sound more like prepping, but this is what I did to be able to transition out of the fiat system for the long term . Might not work for everyone. My experience is a culmination of what I learned from the North East Black out in 2003, GFC in 2008, Hurricane Sandy in 2012 and Hurricane Irma in 2017, and of course more recent events. 1. Get out of Consumer Debt Debt is slavery. Do whatever you can, as fast as you can, to get out of debt. The only debt I've ever taken on was student loan debt and got out of that as fast as I could, but I've seen people get wrecked, and I mean to the point of breakups and near suicide, because of how much debt they've taken on. Those suggesting that you can "borrow" against your bitcoin... Unless your a financial savant and can predict the future... 2. Build a Base Food

I analysed all the BTC pullbacks of the past 15 months

I analysed all the pullbacks from ATH's to local bottoms of the past 15 months and figured out that the current pullback, about 38% from BTC's latest ATH is quite a normal thing to happen. There have been smaller and larger pullbacks in the past but this one s fairly standard. Plus, it appears that BTC is going through a Wyckoff accumulation phase and the latest drop appears to be a test of supply whereby the price usually drops to the bottom of the trading range as set by the first selling climax which occured on 4/12/21. So following the text book and the usual patterns the price should continue to go back up again soon. Should the Bitcoin Community Start Emphasizing Satoshis and the Price of a Satoshi?

A common complaint among newcomers to Bitcoin is the price is too expensive and they can never buy a whole coin. It's staggering how many people don't realize you can buy fractions of a Bitcoin. Since a Bitcoin is 100 million Satoshis, the total number of sats is 2.1 quadrillion. Which is comparable to how many coins are on popular dog meme coins that shall remain nameless. The current conversion of $1 to sats is: https://preview.redd.it/9k82fw5olx981.png?width=580&format=png&auto=webp&s=0b31f8d988db140c7051aa740f71553cf0e10710 Psychologically, I think it feels better to purchase 2,258 satoshis than 0.00002258 BTC, even if they are mathematically the same. Since this community keeps telling people it's still early, maybe a push should be made to emphasize sats and how many sats you can buy for a dollar. The Great Readjustment: understanding where we are and where we're headed

On November 10th, 2021, Bitcoin reached a high around $69,000. As I type this, the current price is $42,948. But this post isn't about the price. It's about where we are and where we're headed, in terms of the 4 year halving-to-halving cycle. We're almost halfway to the next Halving. You probably know what the halving is. Let's talk about the effect the halving has. Every ten minutes, a miner wins a block reward, and that's a big deal because block rewards are the only way new Bitcoin is created. Right now, the block reward is 6.25 BTC. Thus, every ten minutes, 6.25 BTC is created and awarded to a miner. In May 2024, the block reward will be cut in half, to 3.125 BTC. That doesn't sound like a big change unless you're a miner, but add up the block rewards over time and you'll see how much of a difference the halving makes on the supply of newly mined coins hitting the market: 6.25 BTC are mined every ten minutes (roughly). This is the current

This needs to be said here. Bashing people for not understanding or adopting BTC like you might doesn’t help to turn them in your corner. More BTC people need to think about this as getting people “over to your team” and realize people will have vastly different reasons than yours on why they adopt BTC. And that’s a good thing. Lost backup copy of seed words

I wrote down on a piece of paper my seed words and gave it to my parents for safe keeping last year Incase my house burns down etc. They live in another city, I was visiting for the holidays as I was last year when I put the piece of paper with the 24 words on it in their filing cabinet in their home office. They have since cleaned it out and don’t even remember the conversation last year about me giving them a copy. So now what? I have all my BTC stored on a ledger nano, could I simply just buy a new ledger and transfer from the old one to the new one? Rolling old pension into BTC.

I have a small pension that I'm considering rolling over to BTC. If I kept it in the pension Id get an additional $512/mo till I die beginning at age 65 (many many years from now. ) If I theoretically lived till 100 it'd net me just over 215k maximum payout. Right now if I withdrew what I have in I could buy .65btc. To break even with what the pension would offer I'd need btc to hit 315k each. Its not my only crypto or retirement, I'm just seeing what the general consensus is if it's worth the risk or not. *Before it's brought up the pension is safe (no risk of not being there) and will be there when I retire. And taxes have been factored in *****Update: After reading the responses what are your thoughts on this: The $ in the pension is averaging about 8% compounding interest. Would it be wise to put half of that $ it into my 457b that's averaging 15-16% growth a year (that way the $ from the pension will roughly recoup itself) and then put the other

You can easily run a full bitcoin node (not to be confused with a miner) using a raspberry pi and a 1TB SSD with Umbrel software

Hello, I wanted to share my experience setting up a full bitcoin node and how easy the experience was for me. If you have these components laying around or can afford to get a 16GB+ raspberry pi kit, USB to SATA cable, and a 1TB SSD, you can run your own full node and have access to the bitcoin blockchain without the help of a third party (ie an exchange or wallet app) as well as helping with decentralization of the network and securing your investment. All I had to do was follow the raspberry pi assembly manual and watch a 6 minute YouTube tutorial on how to install Umbrel software to a microSD card. I'll admit I have a little more technical knowledge than the average Joe, but with a little bit of patience, troubleshooting, and a handy search engine, anyone can figure it out fairly quickly. The process essentially involved putting together the raspberry pi, hooking it up to my internet and a spare monitor (in my case an old TV monitor), downloading the umbrel software to a mi

This is coming and it will make spending bitcoin effortlessly easy.

Samsung have a track record of partnering with innovative payment companies and they are very pro bitcoin. Samsung has two cool apps, Samsung Pay and Samsung blockchain wallet. But these two combined can create something magical. Samsung Pay partnered directly with Visa allows Samsung to issue Visa credentials that can be used to pay anywhere Visa is accepted. Samsung Blockchain wallet partnered with Binance allows instant liquidity into fiat and stablecoins. Take those partnerships and combine both the Samsung blockchain wallet and Samsung Pay app, and what you get is the ability for every Samsung user on earth to be able to send bitcoin to their Samsung blockchain wallet and then anytime they pay with their Samsung Pay app their crypto is live converted and used to fund the transaction. Soon every Samsung phone will become a bitcoin payments device by default. Submitted January 01, 2022 at 07:55PM by slvbtc https://ift.tt/3eF8dX0
