I have been trying to cut down on cost of living just to buy more Bitcoin, but rent and food take up a large part which i cannot cut down on. As such, i am moving near to the woods, where i can live for free and set traps for say like rabbits and stuff. The only problem is electricity and water but i got my genny and water from lake. Think i will save around $1600 each month and thats $20k half a Bitcoin in one year. Might as well do it now if price is gonna rocket in 2024/2025. Right? Navigating the '1 BTC = 1 BTC' Philosophy in a Fiat-Dominated World

How feasible is it really to live with the '1 BTC is 1 BTC' mindset in a world still dominated by fiat currency? For those who've gone all-in on Bitcoin, I'm curious about the practicalities of this lifestyle choice. When you need to convert BTC to fiat for everyday expenses, how do you navigate the potential loss in value due to Bitcoin's volatility? I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who are 100% in BTC: how do you reconcile the long-term vision of Bitcoin's intrinsic value with the immediate realities of paying bills and making purchases in a fiat-based system? I'm a strong proponent of decentralization and am actively looking for alternatives to the traditional fiat system. While I'm intrigued by the idea of living entirely on Bitcoin, I'm facing the practical challenge of maintaining my current lifestyle in a fiat-dominated world. I'm curious to hear from others who might be in a similar situation: How do you manage day

Bitcoin is not "backed by" anything at all. This is a good thing.

Long ago people used shells, glass beads, salt, wheat and similar items as "money" until gold and silver coins came along. The new superior form of money replaced the inferior forms. Along with gold came goldsmiths. It turned out that rich people found gold to be inconvenient because gold is dangerous and heavy to carry around in significant amounts. Leaving gold at home was dangerous and required expensive security. The goldsmiths already good physical security 24/7. So, people would deposit their physical gold with their goldsmith and they would receive " gold backed " banknotes as receipts for physical gold in the vault. KEY: Gold "backed" notes meant the bearer could take them to a branch of the issuing bank to redeem them for the amount of gold printed upon each note. Banknotes "backed by" silver could be exchanged for the amount (weight) of silver printed on the notes. It turns out, when somebody claims their money is "backed b

Sometimes I almost want to cry thinking about how lucky I am to take advantage of this opportunity

To all the bullish bitcoin believers... I've worked my ass off until now, gonna be 35 in February. I've recently divorced, sold my marital property, and am living with parents currently. I don't want to, it's just the way it is. Prices have inflated to where I can't be my own man anymore. In August, I saw the algorithm push bitcoin content my way. I became sucked into the rabbithole and bought bitcoin a month later. I'm happy to say I'm a whole corner now. The more I research this asset, the more confident I am that I'm early as heck. Sometimes I think about what life will be in 10 years. I know this is going to be life changing. I know that all this addiction to Bitcoin content will pay off. This is the hardest asset ever, the most secure network of wealth in the world, and the future of storing and transacting monetary value. I'm so damn happy I got in early. If it's not going to zero, you know what they say... Submitted November 23,

Why are Binance and Kraken being targeted by Wall Street?

The DOJ is attacking Binance. The SEC is attacking Kraken. https://www.coindesk.com/policy/2023/11/20/kraken-accused-by-sec-of-operating-unregistered-platform-improperly-mixing-customer-funds/ These are, IMO, the two most reputable and trusted exchanges, at least domestically. This coordinated attack proves the Bitcoin Spot ETF is near. Why? They could've said the same things about them, and made the same attacks, 6 months ago, 1 year ago, 2 years ago. They're not doing anything different in Q4 2023 than they were in previous years. The SEC knows that. The DOJ knows that. So why attack them now? Because they want to say they are "cleaning up the industry", so proper accredited and institutional investors can enter, with confidence. And they don't want Binance and Kraken seen as viable investment platforms for new users, with major resources, to start investing in. Over 93% of the Bitcoins have been mined. Wall Street knows they need to move in fast, get a st

How logic and game theory predicts that central banks will likely stack Bitcoin in the future

Assumption 1: Bitcoin will continue to function and operate Assumption 2: Bitcoin is very hard to ban. Let's say the probability of Bitcoin continuing to operate and not being banned is >66% which is a conservative assumption. If the above is true, it stands to reason that Bitcoin will likely continue to demonetize gold due to lower inflation rates, high portability and lower storage costs. If Bitcoin continues to demonetize gold, every gold holder assuming they are rational would want to hedge themselves by selling some of their gold and buying at least some Bitcoin. Not doing so would be a foolish move. Central banks are the biggest gold holders on earth so the above also applies to them. Central banks also have a strong incentive to not buy/support Bitcoin because it competes with their own product. The ones with the biggest disincentive are large central banks like the Fed because they have the most to lose. Smaller central banks have much less to lose and much to gai

70% of Bitcoin supply not moving is a GREAT thing, if...

If the price continues to rise. That means people are holding and wanting more. So, not dead. (Note: a buttcoiner might say something like, "well then it's a ponzi! You're just hoping to sell to the next sucker at a higher price!" No, I want to hold onto the hardest money in existence. Why would I part with it when I can part with softer money first?) When you find dead shipcoin projects where 70-80% haven't moved in a year+, BUT the price is falling daily, that's evidence people don't care about the project. There's no demand. So, dead. No conviction, just abandonment. And that brings me to my main point of this post: HOLDING IS USING. I see people post things like, "Bitcoin is meant to be used. If 70% hasn't moved, then it's not being used." A post like this assumes that Bitcoin's utility is only being met if it is spent to purchase something. But why would I use Bitcoin to buy something when I can use a softer currency like

Would a bitcoin ETF be priced as a fraction of BTC?

So the gold ETF is priced at~ 1/10 the price of an ounce of gold. This actually makes it encouraging for people to invest in the ETF because to buy an ounce for $2000 might seem like too high a wall. Likewise, is it in the filings if the ETFs would do something similar? I know that the fundamental value of a stock that has been split doesn’t change, but everybody knows that having a financial instrument in a certain price range makes it more attractive for every day investors. It’s not 8 billion people, it’s 8 billion people + infinite AI agents

I see many people talking about the favorable scenario we are experiencing in relation to the opportunity to invest in Bitcoin. We are going through a global inflationary crisis, post-pandemic, two wars, high interest rates, and we are on the verge of approving a Bitcoin ETF. It's as if we were at the bottom of the pit and from now on we could only improve and not get worse. However, there is still one point that many people forget: Artificial Intelligence. Many people still do not undertake but soon we will have AIs more intelligent than human beings. In fact, we will have AIs more intelligent than the intelligence of all human beings combined. This is a new demand for Bitcoin that many do not understand. Submitted November 15, 2023 at 05:21PM by NoElection2224 https://ift.tt/BDSF0VC

Couldn't take it, had to pull the plug

I was subscribed to a LOT of more traditional investment related subreddits. Gold, Investing, Real Estate, Landlords, Trading, Daytrading, index funds, bogleheads, etc. etc. etc.... It just makes me so sad every time I see a post about "how should I invest" or "what should I do with $X per month?" and I know that if I say bitcoin, I'd be downvoted and laughed out of the sub. I used to try a little bit, but I had to unsub from all of these because all of these people are living in the past and probably won't wake up until high 6 digit bitcoin. Thankfully though, I had a phone call with my dad last night and I told him about the ETF and what I'm expecting over the next year, and he asked for some educational content so I sent him a Michael Saylor on Robert Breedlove video. Honestly, I'm not worried about random normies missing out, but I'm going to make it my mission to just try to get my family some bitcoin exposure. Submitted November 15, 2

Why aren’t more people talking about this

The Moody’s downgrade of the US government to ‘negative’ is a big deal. The US debt is spiralling upwards, and US bond auctions are getting VERY weak. Like shockingly weak, as China and Japan slow their purchase of US treasuries. This is not business as usual, this is not just another blip on the radar of doom and gloom about the global financial dominance of the US and the USD. This is it, the actual beginning of the end. Just seriously think about it. The wild political polarization happening in the US currently. It’s not like it used to be. It is a full on invasion of the mind, a calculated and targeted attack that has weaponized social media (and legacy media) to push people to the edge of their political leanings, to make them turn on one another, and finally, to make them destroy themselves from within. It is the only way to make the USA fall from its pedestal. The next US election is end game, the final chess move. The US will be in financial chaos before the next election, w

I can have one or two slides. Submitted November 08, 2023 at 12:56AM by VarietyClub https://ift.tt/sEUPhlC

How to be okay with not having enough

I want to get as much BTC as possible but with my current income I’m not able to put much into BTC. We all know it will be 6 figures one day. How am I supposed to feel okay knowing it will hit 6 figures and I don’t have even 0.1 BTC yet. Submitted November 07, 2023 at 08:28PM by EIonMusq https://ift.tt/pAFwKeo

Switzerland is considering locking people into failing banks using capital controls. The Fed is not far behind, promoting “friction tech” that would lock us in.

PSA: Keeping Bitcoin on exchanges.

If you are keeping your Bitcoin on any exchange then you do not own any Bitcoin. What you do own is third party risk or counter party risk, you are allowing an exchange to hold your value for an IOU. If you’re old enough you learned from Mt. Gox, if you’re young enough you should have learned from FTX. Exchanges can go bust, rug you completely, force you to sell at any price or time, or be fully co-opted by a government or state entity. Your funds can be frozen or your account locked for any reason they want to make up. A primary attribute of Bitcoin is that it obsoletes third party risk and allows you to store and transfer your own value without permission. Take advantage of this and get your bitcoin off exchanges! Not your keys, not your coins. Submitted November 06, 2023 at 07:51PM by Immediate-Resist441 https://ift.tt/5ml7YOg

Are you ultimately grateful that SBF dumped the price of BTC last year?

Don't take me the wrong way : he's disgusting, but if not for him being disgusting then the price of my portfolio either now or next year probably wouldn't be recognisable due to how much BTC I purchased in Oct-Dec 2022 - I understand that you'll have investors that have to sell their holdings for the need for their short term liquidities, but all those that sold because they thought it was a damnation of BTC (or effectively any cryptocurrency at that time) itself have themselves to blame for conflating FTX with BTC (et al). Even back in late 2022 I was very glad to see the price of my BTC dump, given that I could just buy more. Submitted November 05, 2023 at 05:52PM by thapussypatrol https://ift.tt/3T6Ll1d

Do you tell your other half about your Bitcoin hoard? Or is it better to keep quiet about the stash, just in case you wake up one day and everything is gone?

Honesty is the best policy, but Bitcoin is about trust but verify. So, do we need to tell our other half about our little digital venture down the cyber rabbit hole? Submitted November 03, 2023 at 07:40PM by kadudu888 https://ift.tt/FWh9mcQ

Moving 2% of my net worth into BTC

I just saw a post titled “Moving 90% of my net worth into BTC”. It asks people for their thoughts on OP’s “stupid decision” (OP’s words, not mine). Obviously, it’s a bait for validation. When someone makes a decision that feels life-altering, it’s normal to seek validation on the decision. We do it all the time, like when we make a big purchase. Sometimes showing off our big purchase is not so much about bragging but about validating our decision. Because it’s such a big cost that we need to feel sure, and social feedback helps us feel sure. I’m here to tell you that you don’t need validation. I’m a fan of Mad Men, and so I’ll quote Don Draper here: “You already know about Jesus. He either lives in your heart or he doesn’t”. The fact is that Bitcoin is an emerging technology. 99% of emerging tech fails, and very rarely is the failure caused by the tech being bad. Usually, social, political, or otherwise serendipitous causes are behind the failure of new tech. That’s why we say “it

All in on BTC?

I want to know how many people on this sub actually put all investments into BTC. For peace of mind I keep investing different % to stocks and real estate to keep myself diversified. At the same time I feel terrible just settling for 8% avg s and p 500 returns. It actually eats at me that I am not putting all of my spare cash every month into BTC. My belief in BTC trumps my beliefs in the US stock market for sure. Anyone else have the same thoughts? Submitted November 01, 2023 at 05:28AM by Reasonable_Zone4606 https://ift.tt/G8CtWfV
