Price? Who gives a shit about price when Lightning Network development is a lot more interesting????? One thing about LN is that because there's no need for consensus before implementing things, figuring out the status of things is quite a bit more difficult than on Bitcoin. In one hand it lets larger groups of people work on improving LN faster without having to coordinate so much. On the other hand it leads to some fragmentation of the LN space, with compatibility problems occasionally coming up. The below is just a smattering sample of LN stuff I personally find interesting. I realize people left and right are getting excited about the price going vertical and I get it, however this is not the time to sell. Even if we dip back into that 11K range or sky rocket past 20K. Let me start of by saying I have traded in the stock market for 30 years and been in crypto since bitcoin was under a $1.00. I bought a bag of weed for 136 bitcoins ... The main reason is Fiat is worthless. America is 22 trillion in debt. Just let that sink in for a moment. 22 fucking trillion dollars. How are they going to get out of that debt which is one of 2 ways. A default on the debt or print so much money it's worthless (trust me they are going to print it into obscurity). I keep seeing posts about 2-3% inflation over the last decade and this is so wrong due to what they classify what goes into inflation. It's really 6-7% and all you have to do is check your water bill, energy bill, housing, and or groceries. Next we have what I call the other big three of the Euro,

He's a nice guy, and is always willing to talk shop with us even though I know he has much bigger clients than my family. In 2013 I asked him about Bitcoin (what he thought, was it a worthwhile investment, did he see any growth potential, etc). I think bitcoin was right around $800 at the time and starting to make some headlines. He said he honestly didn't know a lot about bitcoin, but cited it as an 'unproven technology' and for me not to bother investing. Not a strong rebuke, but definitely not an endorsement. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago, we're talking about finances and bitcoin comes up again. I mention how well it's done since we last talked about it, and how he had recommended I not invest in it. A while back I was chatting with a friend about how often we open up CoinMarketCap website each day to check on Bitcoin. Everything is denominated in USD even though it's a poor store of value. Why not have a FiatMarkteCap website where everything is denominated in BTC? A quick search on Google and I found an archived reddit post on this exact topic , but links within have either died or taken over by domain catchers. So. On a perhaps foolish quest to reinvigorate the meaning of Bitcoin, to.. rediscover the reason for its creation I've ended up trying to unveil the full contents of the article time stamped into the Genesis block by Satoshi Nakamoto. That article was the headline quoted on the tittle of this post: "The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks" I've found multiple pictures of the news paper its self, including discovering that it is a coveted collectible's item. I wrote this BIP39 24/21/18/15/12-word mnemonic recovery tool because I got PMed tonight with a question about how to recover a wallet if you think only one word is wrong but don't know which one. Back in 2012 I managed a bounty wallet dedicated to " Bitcoin Pruning ", a scalability side-chain concept. The bounty collected 5.725 BTC and was meant to be donated to that specific project, but it never took off. I'd like to make good use of these coins, and am looking for a suitable project or charity that deals specifically with improvements to Bitcoin's scalability. I am in touch with Anton from Scaling Bitcoin, and perhaps sponsoring that and giving the decision over to the conference's committee might be a good way to make proper use of the funds. Currently the UTXO set is about 3 or 4 GB stored on disk, and is bigger in memory so usually can't be stored entirely in memory and so relies on caching. At the moment, the UTXO set is bounded only by the blocksize limit - the UTXO set can grow at maximum nearly as fast as the blockchain does (if every transaction creates many outputs from a minimal number of inputs. The UTXO set shrank a bit recently (possibly in part due to incentives introduced for segwit), but in general its been growing around 50% per year (while memory cost effectiveness has been improving at only 15%/year). Without finding a solution to this, the UTXO set can be expected to grow to over 20 GB in 5 years. That's a major problem for running a full node. Luckily people have been thinking about the problem for a while now and there are a number of ideas that could massively improve the situation. I renewed a VPS service today using Bitcoin. The provider uses BitPay to accept payment. The landing page show a "network fee" for bitcoin, shows no fee for bitcoin cash, recommended the fee and then chastised me for using such a low fee (68 sat/b or 16,836 sats) that my transaction may not get processed for 48 - 72 hours. Guess how long my "low fee" transaction took to confirm. Go ahead. Guess. Next block? BINGO. Fuck you BitPay, you are a bad actor in this space. I am aware I could have paid less for the transaction. And it's been great so far. The set up process is very clean and easy imo. I funded the wallet with some coins. Transactions with 0 confirmations don't show in the transaction list, I had to wait for at least 1 confirmation. Around 3,000 BTC were have been traded this month only using LocalBitcoin, everyone knows about the fees, but for some reason people still traded that amount in this country using BTC and Localbitcoin. Last week was the lowest trading week since Sep 2018 (I dont really know the reason).
