Finally got the call from my dad I had been dreading.

Backstory: I bought bitcoin back in early 2016. Not a lot, I didn’t have a lot of money, but it became a lot over the course of the next year and a half. Along the way, I would periodically tell my dad about how my bitcoin was doing. He had a vague notion of what it was, but didn’t know anyone else who had some and got really curious. In October of last year I visited my dad (we live in different states) and he had me show him how to buy bitcoin. I explained the risks: that bitcoin was a new technology and there was a good chance it would crash and a small chance that he would lose all of his investment . He said he knew and had been doing some of his own research, and so I set him up on an exchange and he bought some bitcoin. Well we all know what happened a few months later in January and what the story has been since. I have been worried that he was angry at me for talking about, and helping him buy something that had crashed so spectacularly. Well yesterday I finally got a call fr

Whales, bankers, probably the 3 stooges Craig, Ver, and Wu all selling their BTC to make up their agendas thus causing the price to drop, weak hands see this and the price drops even lower. Holidays, TG and Christmas are times of year when people actually need extra money for presents and traveling. Combined with the price drop this is a recipe for people selling out of necessity. Tech has improved. The Bitcoin network is strong, LN is getting stronger. Hello everyone. I would like to post a little bit of research I've conducted about Gold, Bitcoin, the USD, and inflation. First I'd like to define what inflation is. I'm not talking about the Consumer Price Index (CPI), or the Personal Core Expenditures Index (PCE). These are measures of a change in the relative price of a chosen selection of goods. They are often used for headline inflation numbers, and a modified version of the PCE is what the Federal Reserve currently uses to help gauge "inflation" in the United States. If there are 100 dollars and we print 5 in a year we have a monetary inflation rate of 5%. This recent price drop was an easy buy for me, I've never felt more confident about an investment than this. Nov 28, 2016 (2 yrs ago today), people were FREAKING out that BTC could hit $800. Everyone chill out, and learn the long game.

A friend once told me, a long-term outlook for an American is 3 or 4 quarters....but in China, its 100-500 years. Two years ago, there was NO way BTC could surpass the price of gold...well, it did. Buy and HODL, we all have a great opportunity to buy cheap BTC...stop whining, and stop trading trying to get rich. You will be out your BTC (unless you REALLY know what you are doing), and anyone still holding in a couple years will be rewarded. Play the long game, and you will be happy....and that's literally American long game, not the Chinese version. Patience, keep it in perspective. Unpopular opinion : Hodlers are incredibly important for the price of bitcoin.

HODLERS are really good because they don't sell their coins. Meaning that in a bear market, you have whatever amount of bitcoin they represennt, ex : 98% of bitcoins that are OUT of circulation that aren't being sold. So those 98% of bitcoins that aren't being sold aren't contributing to bitcoin's price going down. So when people try to buy bitcoin, the more they buy the more the price will go up because you have all the hodlers that are holding these coins that these buyers will never be able to get. What happened the emphasis of spending bitcoin on this sub?

I've been in bitcoin since the beginning. I was watching when that dude bought the 10,000 btc pizza. I bought in at 16 cents, I bought in at $6000. I sold at $1300, I sold at $4000. Since then I've been largely inactive on this sub and in crypto in general. I've made more than I've lost with BTC but the point was never about making money off an investment like a stock, it was about buying bitcoin so I could spend it. This sub used to get excited about more people USING bitcoin, now everyone's only concern is how much money they might lose. I think this sub has lost sight of what Bitcoin really is: a currency. If you still don't know how being right but in minority in any markets feels like, watch the movie The Big Short. Watch it from the perspective of Michael Burry. He was right the whole time, not just when the housing bubble popped, but he definitely didn't feel right the whole time. I work as mortgage broker ( Australia ). Recently, I had a client who is building his dream house and wanted to get some help from his family from UK. He told me their family tried to transfer some money from UK to Australia but their daily limit to overseas transfer was £5,000 only but had to pay £50 for each transaction so while transferring £50,000 it would cost them £500 in top of that they would loss close to $5,000 in conversion ( bank fees and international transaction fees ). He never heard of bitcoin and I explained him how it works and he was able to transfer money easily and instantly with bitcoin with much less fee. He was very happy. I thank bitcoin and Satoshi for creating such magnificent means of transfer and store of value. Edit 1: yes he will have to satisfy gift otherwise he might get trouble from ATO. I advised him on this. Edit 2: he advised me that he used Huobi Australia to exchange it for Aud. They only charge 0.2% fee to trade so fee was much less compared

I chose to go with this software years ago when I started the world's first Bitcoin-only porn membership site because they supported BitPay. At the time it was hard to find software that would properly manage a membership site that could handle Bitcoin payments, so for a while I was just activating each and every membership manually. BitPay was great because they could handle the payment process, but I still had to take care of everything else myself. I didn't use their service of converting Bitcoin to fiat automatically, and I didn't like how towards the end they kept upping the minimum auto-payout (in Bitcoin) to my wallet. It was especially annoying since in the beginning just one or two memberships would hit their limit, but as the Bitcoin price kept going up it started being 10 or more subscriptions before I would get a withdrawal, so

Just Got a Call from "Coinbase"

I just got a text from Coinbase giving me a verification code for my account, which I didn't initiate. Then I got a call from "Coinbase." The guy on the line said I needed to change my password. When I told him I'd call Coinbase back, he stuttered and said, "Uh, what for? We're on the line now." I told him to scam someone else and that I was calling the FBI (lol). He called back and started with how I needed to change my password. I again told him not to call me and that I was going to contact the FBI. I don't use Coinbase anymore (don't really dabble in cryptocurrency anymore), but I changed my password (online, not over the phone) anyway. If someone calls asking for sensitive information, tell them you'll call the company back and give it to them then. YOU be in control of the call, not them. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up! This stability is overwhelmingly positive

I'm not an expert, nor a coder, nor do I have a crystal ball. But I have been investing in more traditional assets for nearly three decades and have been in Bitcoin since just before it took off in 16, and I must say, this stability while markets are anything but, the fact that Bitcoin seems to have found a floor above 6,000, again, after all the turmoil, these are very good signs of an underlying strength. Bitstamp Lost My 24K USD Wire Transfer

I’m a reasonable person. I give people the benefit of the doubt but this situation has became super fishy. We transferred 24k USD on the 23rd of October and funds are still not showing in our Bitstamp account. Bitcoin will win

Guys, The united states is the world reserve currency. It is not going to default or go bankrupt or any of that nonsense. That isn't how bitcoin wins. Bitcoin will win because of people in other countries realizing they get a shit deal having to deal with pegging their currency to the dollar. Bitcoin will win because it will continue to increase in value against the dollar, while only depreciating marginally after massive gains. Bitcoin will win because as people learn about it, they realize what makes it a better store of value, which causes further adoption as a value store which increases security of the network, increasing its value proposition and driving up of the price. Some hackers had about 5 or 6 verified accounts. So they change one to say Elon Musk so it looks like it’s Musk (with the checkmark). He does a promoted tweet saying he’s giving away 160k bitcoin and if you send him the 0.1-2 BTC you’ll get lots of bitcoin back. But then the other hacked/verified accounts all reply saying (wow it worked!) and even have screenshots of the money, etc. LOL. Guy has already gotten people to send him a total of 6 BTC.
